Re: Awkward purchasing question

Pretty sure it is still illegal if there is INTENT to transfer after purchase, whether or not you actually pay for it.

Re: Awkward purchasing question

Yeah, OP still feels bad about this whole thing. If I had known about the liability of the seller deal I would never have asked in the first place. Like I have said from the start I don't plan, nor want to do anything illegal. I appreciate all of the constructive comments. Even though purchasing &qu...

Re: Awkward purchasing question

So I just reread the statute you posted. I didn't realise military style rifles were grouped together with handguns. That changes things then. Of course no one should sell an AR without documentation and reporting the sale. I didn't know they would be liable if they didn't. Forget I asked, I wouldn'...

Re: Awkward purchasing question

That makes sense. Oh well. I still think I will buy one in the next few months. Guess I will just have to deal with being on "the list".

Re: Awkward purchasing question

Would you sell a gun (particularly an AR) to a stranger without getting a signed bill of sale? I know I wouldn't. Your actions in creating and posting in this thread have, if anything, greatly increased your visibility to law enforcement. I am OK with, and actually supportive of the government chec...

Re: Awkward purchasing question

If the government wants to put me on a list for asking how to legally purchase a gun they can go ahead. I have nothing to hide and am not asking how to do anything illegal. I just feel awkward about bringing it up to a stranger.

Re: Awkward purchasing question

While it's not illegal to transfer if you have a permit ( mn 609.66 and mn 624.713). I for one would never transfer without paperwork for my own protection.

Even though I could show a valid MN license and a MN permit to acquire handguns?

Re: Awkward purchasing question

It is illegal to have someone else buy for me. I don't plan on or want to do anything illegal.

Awkward purchasing question

To make things very clear right off the bat, I have a MN permit to purchase and am not a criminal. That being said... With the government what it is today and my (most likely) irrational fears, I would like to purchase an AR but not have any paperwork involved. I know paperwork isn't required to buy...
