Re: Anyone here hunt deer with an AR style of rifle?

My deer hunting rifle just so happens to be a 5.56 (.223) caliber AR platform rifle.. Does just fine. I do have a smaller frame, and gets the job done for me- may have to track the game a bit further, as the rounds are smaller, but the kick is minimal, and puts the game on the ground. Have had luck ...

Re: Are you ready for Deer Opener?

Yeah... Opening weekend is over rated... We have a place in cheese land... So, aside from spending Thanksgiving with my mom and a bunch of friends at the cabins, I prefer to hunt the 2nd half of the week, and have had better luck on black friday... And no, not at the mall :) I still have my original...

Re: Hog Hunting

So, we ended up booking a hunt for March- in Texas. Can't be more excited. We'll see what comes of me hunting with my 5.56 vs the hubs 30-06... Have a friend that will be coming with his compound bow in tow as well.

Tell me more about prairie dogs? You ever been?

Re: .380 auto ammo

I've looked at cabelas, gander and FF websites- none of which have it on there. All other sites: Sportsman's guide, Ammo to go, etc are sold out... Wondering if the end of the world is coming or something, as it's only .380 for pete's sake... Or unless everyone else out there got that caliber for xm...

.380 auto ammo

I got a Ruger LCP for Christmas this year. Anyone know of where to go for .380 auto ammo that seems to have fair prices? Want to grab a bunch before the lead bullets are no longer in production, but am having troubles finding a supply online...

Re: food plot 2013

We tried salt blocks- both regular old salt blocks, and fancy apple ones. Neither produced any luck, and they basically just washed away with the rain.

Winter Rye? Tell me more-- Can I get it at the local store? I can't say that I've seen a whole lot of Rye at my local Gander Mountain…

Hog Hunting

The hubs and I would LOVE to go hog hunting-- anywhere near the midwest, here. Anyone been, or can give any recommendations? Reasonably priced, of course. All inclusive is not a must.

Re: Are you ready for Deer Opener?

I do have to say that I downloaded a hunting ap called Trackback and it works just like google earth.... but allows you to save locations of many different things: base camp, rubs, scrapes, etc along with saving pics to such waypoint. Been using it at our cabin in northern wisc and so far is awesome...

Re: food plot 2013

Well, the oats are surely a hit. They're gone! Been gone for a few weeks now. At this point, we have 4 bucks that frequent about every other day to forage on the remaining oat remnants, and as well as the brassica tops, which are now being eaten.. 1-2 bucks are something I would take, 2 are just too...
