Re: Minnesota Sets New Record For Issuing Permits To Carry Guns

Re: New Math. One of the most useful things I learned in college was the ability to make quick approximations based on limited givens to determine if a figure is reasonable. I'm a physicist by education and in the lower-level undergrad classes, they'd often halt the lesson at hand and ask questions ...

Re: Minnesota Sets New Record For Issuing Permits To Carry Guns

Might be a little lower since PTC is age 21. Still, it is a pretty high percentage. Assuming 5% of adults 21 and older in MN have a PTC, and not all carry, in any large crowd, perhaps 3 out of 100 are packing... legally. So... if you are at a grocery store and there are 100 shoppers, 3 have guns. Te...

Re: ‘Rust’ supplier may have mistakenly provided live rounds

"(CNN)Alec Baldwin told ABC News he never pulled the trigger of the gun that shot director of photography Halyna Hutchins on the set of "Rust." "The trigger wasn't pulled. I didn't pull the trigger, " Baldwin said in an excerpt released Wednesday from the sit-down interview ...

Re: Red flag confiscation order moves forward

Yes, DOA in U.S. Senate. But...

I do contact my reps/senators when the national groups ask... even though they are D.

I modify the email adding that MNGOC (not MN Gun Rights) and GOA speaks for me in these matters (yes I do understand the MNGOC is state level, but I do suspect they'll take note)

Re: MN Gun Owners Caucus files suit against the State Fair

Interesting call... not sure what to make of it. I guess we'll soon find out when judge decides.

Re: neighborhood that vowed not to call police being tested

In the meantime, 3 Minneapolis city council members get private security due to threats.

Not sure of the official stances these members have on gun control.

Re: Will anyone be in Hibbing Jan 20 for the Senate gun hearing?

I'm thinking of stowing away on the Protect MN bus to save gas. I'll wear an orange shirt, will blend in just fine. BTW, I have an appearance of a liberal (pompous, professor look). They'll never know. SOOO FUN How you getting home? :cogitating: I guess I may look like a professor, but don't have t...

Re: An interesting discussion on background checks

A couple miscellaneous thoughts, How much would it cost to upgrade NICS to handle the added traffic and give a timely response? How about throwing in carry reciprocity for all 50 states? I’d be ok with this. It’s a true compromise. EDIT: add liability insurance to anyone who goes through the univer...

Re: Trump calls for mental health & gun reforms after shooting

The big issue with polls on the background check is that they don't explain what it really means, like criminalizing loaning a gun to a friend. And the fact that it is unenforceable, unless every gun is registered. Totally correct. Like: "Do you agree with imprisoning a 95 year old widow if sh...

Why do police have AR15s? To kill as many people as possible in as short amount of time possible?

Re: Shooting at Virginia Beach Municipal Center

Have the 2 handguns used, the "high capacity" magazines used or the suppressor used been specifically identified anywhere? Doesn't seem to be out there. Perhaps the guns were a 108 (2019 minus 1911) year old design? Of course, additional suppressor Federal Tax Stamp details are being &quo...
