Re: Embedded YouTube videos

test:

Nope, still nuthin'. I did note that if you use https then it simply quotes the string without converting it.

ETA: and playing with several formatting options didn't work.

Re: First gun-sniffing dog on the clock at Mall of America

What can any non-police security guards do legally other than ask you to leave? Physically detain you? Search you? Presumably they have the same rights as any other citizen- to use "reasonable force" to prevent the commission of a felony on private property, to defend self and others agai...

Embedded YouTube videos

For some reason I can't see embedded videos, even ones that I know loaded properly in the past. Is this my browser or is anyone else having problems with this?

Re: First gun-sniffing dog on the clock at Mall of America

I thought MOA claimed the entirety of the common space outside the stores as MOA property where they could prohibit carry. Was there a ruling against them?

Re: Federal judge dismisses charge against USPS employee for car

I presume the USPS will appeal claiming that post offices are sensitive areas; what I'm wondering is on what basis they'll claim that, other than "gunz iz bad".

If you're in Hennepin County, and you find yourself in scrutiny from the Justus system, you are probably better off being a criminal.

Oh, Mary Moriarty, County Attorney. Got it.

Re: Surviving Anarcho-Tyranny: resources and advice

Having or having access to a properly sized wood chipper may be more useful/ important than one might expect. This gets into the subject of "plausible deniability" and "underhanded dirty tricks", which I would be interested to speculate about but not on a public forum. Moriarty'...

Surviving Anarcho-Tyranny: resources and advice

To recap, Anarcho-Tyranny was handily defined in a "The View From Oregon" essay thusly: Unfortunately, when governments give up, they don’t go away, leaving us in an an-cap utopia; they shift their focus from attempting to manage crime and delinquency to “managing” the people who aren’t re...

Re: Illinois sheriffs file opposition to state’s gun ban in fede

Indeed sheriffs are elected officials and are acutely aware of how their constituents would view gun banning. Maybe the post of Chief of Police in major cities should also be elected.

Re: Governor Walz and Burnsville shooter

No one is suggesting that the folks at modern sportsman should be tried for illegally transferring a gun because they followed the law. . Maybe not in this specific case, but a lot of antis keep trying to make the case that the very existence of a commercial firearms industry meets the technical le...

Re: Republican state senator no longer supports gun control bill

Hopefully the feedback she received was lots and lots of messages saying the voters would abandon her if she went through with this. I suspect the real reason why gun controllers keep linking guns with crime is because the solution that would actually work- enforce hard-time prison sentences for arm...

Re: Eclipse

Based on my experience in 2017, the entire interstate system will be clogged the evening of the eclipse, so I am planning staying an extra day and returning 4/9. Huh. In 2017 I went down to Missouri three days early because they were predicting the worst traffic jams in all of history. Didn't see t...

Re: Eclipse

HERE WE GO AGAIN Monday April 8 2024. The nearest spot from the Twin Cities on the line of totality will be southeast Missouri, about a ten or eleven hour road trip, 2:00 P.M. local time. Has anyone made plans? On my own I figure I would have to drive down the day before, get a room, watch the ecli...
