Re: Streichers Days

Were you turned away? I'm not a cop, but I stopped by and drooled over a few different things without issue.

Re: Obama calls for national service

I saw a lot of "asks" and "set goals" in the speech, nothing about forcing people to do it. Sounds a lot like the current volunteer arrangement we have, the "President's Volunteer Service Award" that Bush II got rolling (and I think he might have bogarted a program Clin...

It may not be everyone, but a heck of a lot of people do just that.

Re: SUV in the river - language gap to blame

Be prepared. That is the point. Maybe I should have said "culture gap". It's like those dingbats who go into the mountains and get lost and call for help on their cell phones and have no idea where they are. I think you might be surprised how many people, born and raised here, call 911 wh...

Re: Call 911 - get a Civilian - Yea Right!

You think they should send an armed, sworn, highly-trained and highly-paid patrol officer to fill out some forms so that you can get an insurance reimbursement? Using non-sworn personnel for non-policing tasks is a terrific idea, and I hope that top-heavy, patrol-light departments like Minneapolis ...

Re: Bates boots closeout

Is it just me, or is everything at LA police gear perpetually on "closeout"?

Re: Twin Cities: Drugs killed man who was Tasered

"My son didn't have a weapon and he is Tasered? It doesn't make sense," his father, Gordon Backlund, said Friday. Sure it makes sense. It definitely makes more sense than shooting your son with a firearm or whacking him with a baton. I suppose they could have just continued asking nicely....

Re: slayings of cops rise

It's still much safer to be a cop than to deliver pizzas. I've been seriously considering a career change lately and as a guy who likes to drive fast and receive the occasional discounted meal, I was throughly torn between pizza delivery and law enforcement. Thank you for your thoughtful insight in...

Re: What do women carry?

I then posed it to the class as a problem, and had her stand up and ask folks where they thought she might be able to carry without changing her style of dress too much. (She enjoyed it; very cute, and didn't mind other folks noticing that.) A fair number of jaws dropped when she drew the 642 from ...

Re: Post - Bill's Shooters Show

The S&W guy was really annoying. He wouldn't leave the Beretta guy alone (he thought he was being funny, but he wasn't) and was just obnoxious in general. I got to try out several guns and enjoyed the experience. The staff upstairs answered a few different questions I had and were friendly and h...
