So, by that standard, if a crook has a gun to your wife's head and you can walk away, you must do so?

I don't think that is the intent of the law.

Dangit now you guys got me thinking my head hurts, lol

Re: In MN. wouldn't he go to Jail?

IMO number 2 & 3 wasn't met- The guy could retreated and called police. He wasn't directly involved. In our state, I bet they guy would have to defend himself in court $$$$$ Just my opinion. I can see the "Dirty Harry" card being played by a gun hating city attorney. And the crooks fa...

Re: In MN. wouldn't he go to Jail?

In Minnesota you must meet four criteria to be legally justified in using Lethal Force: 1. You must reasonably be in immediate fear of great bodily harm or death to yourself or another. 2. You must be a reluctant participant. 3. You must have no reasonable means of retreat. 4. No lesser force would...

Re: In MN. wouldn't he go to Jail?

It's not the same, but, I'd be willing to bet he'd spend jail time in MN for doing what he did in GA. That's all. ;)

Re: In MN. wouldn't he go to Jail?

Yes, but, in MN isn't YOUR life or Families life being threatened the only time you can use deadly force? I don't think that is true. On the other hand, putting yourself in potential legal peril for someone other than yourself or a family member may take a bit more consideration. THAT's exactly wha...

Re: In MN. wouldn't he go to Jail?

Yes, but, in MN isn't YOUR life or Families life being threatened the only time you can use deadly force? Seems kinda iffy to me. Just like if you are in a store being robbed at gunpoint. If the guns not pointed at you, and you intervene, you COULD, (not WOULD), be arrested. That's the way I underst...

Re: U of M Medical Center.

I'm not familiar with the medical facility there, but it sounds like several people agree that it's not a U of M facility. If that's the case they can prohibit carry just like any other private property. My previous statements still apply to actual U of M facilities. Sent from my iPhone using Tapat...

Re: U of M Medical Center.

Remember that they sold the U of MN hospitals to Fairview. It is NOT a public owned/Government facility, despite it being on the U of MN campus. I can't believe the number of gun rights folks around here who advocate violating someone else's property rights... geez. Also, the government property cl...

Re: U of M Medical Center.

Well, turns out it is Fairview and not U of M. The cop I saw said, he never asks, unless he sees open carry. Now I know. I locked it up first anyway, but, yeah it's the U of M med center, but Fairview Hostpital. Didn't even see a posting, just assumed U of M.............................NOT!

Re: Recieved an email:

[quoteThe lead ban would only apply to hunting; in much the same way that it's illegal to use any shotgun larger than 10-gauge to hunt with but a 4-gauge is perfectly fine for home defense: :D ] Perhaps. But the EPA has tried to ban lead in indoor gun ranges in the past. What would happen, if an &q...

Recieved an email:

Minnesota: Anti-Hunting Bill Introduced in State House Last week, an anti-hunting bill aimed at banning the use of lead shot while hunting was introduced in the Minnesota Legislature. House File 1274 would significantly alter the face of hunting in Minnesota. As we have seen with attempts to ban the...
