Re: Rebluing

I failed to include a very fine Stainless Steel carding wheel (about .005 wire diameter) in the needed items. Again Brownells sells exactly what you would need. The carding wheel is used between each bluing cycle to remove the rust that accumulates. Bluing, as you may already know, is a controlled, ...

Re: Rebluing

I have had very good success using the Mark Lee Express Blue. Brownells sells, I think 16 oz for about $20.00. After all the prep is done it takes me about 4-5 hours for the actual bluing. You will need 2 SS tanks. You will need heat sources to get water up to 185-200 degrees. First tank is used in ...

Re: Lee Handpress Question

I own a Lee hand press. It is an older version with 7/8x14 threads vs the newer models which have the breech lock system. While not an ideal press they will work. If I was to load 20-50 rounds it would work fine. More than that I would opt for something better. A single stage bench mounted or a turr...

Re: Gas block screws

Usually screw size determines the torque setting. When tightening scope screws, a 6 screw use about 20 inch pounds and for a 8 size use about 25 inch pounds. Has worked for me, no broke or damaged screws and they don't come loose.
Just my 2 cents.

Re: Prairie dog scope questions

I have used Leupold vx-3 6.5-20 x 40 with varmint hunter reticle. It has elevation and windage on the reticle. The last couple years I have used VX-2 (6-18x40) with the CDS dial. That works very well for me when I have a good range finder. The original VX-2 with CDS does not have windage markers. No...

Re: Changed status from lurking to contributing

P3 Orion was first deployed in 1962. Our squadron (VP-19) was an early receiver of the P3's. We had Lockheed engineers with us on many flights, ironing out the bugs. Much of our equipment was old vacuum tube technology. I received basic transistor theory in my electronics training. The P3 is now bei...
