What are these for? (see pics)

I bought a 'grab bag' of gun stuff at an auction (got ripped off, but that's beside the point). In the box of stuff were these three things I can't identify- the oil can is an obvious, but am not sure to what and from where. No markings on it. The black tube of cleaning stuff I think is AK/SKS, righ...

Re: Feds finalize tighter regulations on gun stabilizing braces

Remove the brace and throw that away and you have a pistol again that does not need to be registered and can be used with a shorter barrel. Put in a pistol buffer tube if you want to remove all traces of the brace. Edit: the moment you put an M4 style stock on it, you have an SBR. I would not do th...

Re: Feds finalize tighter regulations on gun stabilizing braces

I'll chime back in- I spoke to a DNR guy at the Fair and he told me that if he sees me using my AR 'pistol' (with brace) as a pistol taking a deer, he won't care. But if he sees me using the brace as a shoulder-fired gun taking the deer, he'll confiscate it, etc. Regardless, -back to insanity- if I ...

Re: Feds finalize tighter regulations on gun stabilizing braces

Okay so let me get my head around this- Hypothetically speaking, if I built a totally awesome 300AAC upper with a 9" barrel, the Minnesota DNR says it qualifies as a legal deer-taking handgun in areas south of the rifle/shotgun border. And although it hypothetically has a buffer tube, (totally ...

Re: New ATF final ruling: Pistol Brace vs SBR

Or simply build the pistol without a brace? But that’s just it- even if you took off the “brace”, according to the ATF you’d still have a pistol if the barrel is less than 16”, hence required to register/license it. Believe me, I thought about just swapping out the brace to a straight tube, but tha...

New ATF final ruling: Pistol (Brace) vs SBR

Given the ATF has now ruled on braces being regulated on guns w/-16” barrels….what’s your intended action now? (for those that have ARs under 16”) Seems the gist is either A) tell the ATF you’ve built/bought a sub-16” barreled gun and require a license for it, or B) rebuild the barreled upper and pu...

AR in .410 upper platform- What’s the point?

Like everyone these days I’m getting bombarded with emails and texts from Midway, Brownells, OpticsPlanet etc! One company was advertising a sale ($279) for a 410 upper with buffer and 5rnd mag. My first thought was “cool, I don’t have one of those”, the other voice in my head said “What’s the point...

Save old boxes, or no?

My brother told me many years ago to save my old gun boxes, scope boxes, parts boxes, etc because if I sold that particular item later, it was well worth having the original box. So I’ve saved everything….scope boxes, scope mount boxes, gun boxes, even upper and lower receiver boxes! I’m wallowing i...

Barrel scope around town?

Last night was at the 200yrd range firing prone (slow) w/service rifle using my meticulously loaded rounds (69gr SMK, LC brass, CCI primer, 25.3gr RE15). First and second shots were 7s at 11:00. (Which is weird because a week earlier it was dialed in) Regardless, the second shot -according to the Sh...

Trash these and start over? Or fire and hope for the best

In a reloading frenzy, I grabbed some primed 308 cases and some IMR 3031 (41gr) and topped it all with Barnes 130gr TTSX. I wasn’t too happy with the seating depth, but hastily made about 15 rounds. It was all feeding well but I noticed some oddities. The shoulder on a couple seem crushed. (See pics...

Re: Pm not leaving outbox

I'm having the same issue. Something is broken in the forum software...seems like a shaky platform. I've got mssgs not leaving the Outbox and it's incredibly frustrating. I doubt it's a 'until they read them', because A) they wouldn't have time to read thru mssgs and B) who the heck are "they&q...
