Ruger Mark IV Firing Pins Breaking

Have had several reports lately concerning broken Ruger Mark IV firing pins. A few, that broke into two parts, had the front section separate and that front part put a nasty "ding" in the chamber mouth. https://i.imgur.com/WWSiNWNm.jpg Check your firing pins to see if that ...

Re: Bad Mark IV Firing Pins

Yes sir. The above firing pin is from the new Ruger Mark IV. I replaced the firing pin in my Ruger Mark IV with a Ruger Mark II firing pin and it's working just fine and hasn't broken.

Bad Mark IV Firing Pins

From my understanding, the Ruger Mark IV "safety" recall is still in full force. Now, in the middle of this recall, we are seeing the Ruger Mark IV style firing pins breaking on a regular basis. See the picture enclosed: https://i.imgur.com/WWSiNWNl.jpg The above picture is...

Re: Recall: ALL Ruger MarkIV (including 22/45)

There is a difference between user level maintenance and armory or gunsmith level. Everyone should know how to maintain their tools be it a truck, car, boat, or firearm. Not everyone should disassemble things beyond their limitations. Well, who is it that creates those "limitations" ? I f...

Re: Recall: ALL Ruger MarkIV (including 22/45)

I've never had one of the motors in any of the vehicles I've owned over the years completely apart. I know my limitations. I did take a welding class at a technical college in Rice Lake, WI, and found that any "caveman" can do that sort of thing, after just a few hours of instruction. :o I...

Re: Handgun Photo Thread

Ruger Mark IV Competition Target. This pistol hasn't shown any of the abnormaladies that are claimed to be an issue with the Ruger Mark IV recall, so I feel no need to send it back to Ruger.

If you want to keep pinning them on prior to failure, I'm not going to stop you. This post really belongs in the for sale section though.

Well, that's for dam sure!

Re: Ordered a rather ugly gun today...

Well there goes the annual bonus, but it's for a good cause. This one is pretty pricey so the ugliness per dollar is quite low. I don't think it's too ugly though. Who knows when it will arrive. I put the special order receipt with my will and health care directive so my kids can inherit it, or at ...

It was the FIRST time and it failed. Have you welded these before?

Re: Ruger Mark III 22/45 Suppressed

The tires were just an analogy. The point was if you are trying to show off your business it would probably be best to use high quality products to do so. You should not need to use special ammo, run custom bolts and tune a 22LR to get your rimfire can to be quiet. A high quality can out of the box...

Something To Be Aware Of

Over the years I've had a whole bunch of Ruger Mark II pistols cross my bench. There was a spate of time when Ruger thought it would be easier to make the Ruger Mark II bolt, in two parts. The two part bolts are often found with a mainspring housing assembly that started out as a solid, one-piece ca...

Re: Ruger Mark IV Competition Target

The issue isn't the height, it's that the dovetail is 3x wider than the groove it resides in and the whole mechanism looks scabbed on rather than designed to perch atop a round receiver - like a badly modified M1911 which started with a blade rear sight but someone stuck a Novak in. They look like ...

Re: Places to practice shooting.

I'm fortunate to be able to have my range out behind my shop. I can shoot out to 200 yards and have quite a few metal plate pistol shooting targets. There are times when I need to share my range with some of the native residents that have been prowling about this land before I acquired it: http:...
