Don't be too hard on yourself, most people will struggle to hold a genuine 1moa group at 1000yds on command! That's about 11" at that range. I had a Sako TRG-22 in 308 that would occasionally put down sub 1" groups at 300 yards on paper, but I rarely achieved that between my love of coffee...

Almost any good full power rifle will get you to 1000, and the difference between a $5000 1/4moa rifle and a $500 1.5moa rifle is usually lost in the shooters ability and the constantly shifting variables at longer ranges beyond 800m.
