Re: Ewwybody be vewwy, vewwy quiet. Tell me about hunting wabbit

if you see hawks and or coyotes, you will not see any rabbit. Back in the 80's before the hawk population recovered, our hunting land would have hundreds of them around, now the hawks and coyotes get them all and most the grouse too. I would not like to shoot and eat local city rabbits, who knows wh...

Re: Slug Zone for deer season only?

It also has to do with how people tend to hunt. Its often hard to find a suitable tree for a deer stand in slug zones. Quite often it is a flush and shoot scenario on many farms. You and the neighbors get together and walk thru the high grass, the ditches and the windrows and then its just shoot as ...

Re: Winchester Model 70 accessories, parts, mods, etc

I have a lot of success still hunting in poor weather. When is really windy or rainy or both, deer seem to just sit still, bedded down waiting for it to pass. If the deer are not going to come to you, you must find the deer. I will set out as lightly dressed as I can, I will also carry as little as ...

Re: Winchester Model 70 accessories, parts, mods, etc

Are you going to shoot game with this, or is it just a banger? To me, and Dean will roll over and scream at this, Jeff Cooper spent too many of his later years hunting in africa, and too little hunting deer in deep woods. When you hunt in africa, for the most part it is which animal do you want. You...

Re: What does everyone shoot?

I forgot to add my daughter has a Rizzini that she worked for, its a very nice, italian gun from a maker who in my mind at least, equals Beretta in quality with less $$ . its a Rizzini B which is a far cry from the F.lli Rizzini's, those start at 105K euro's also next on the list is a new CZ canvas ...

Re: Now here is a shotgun...

My grand father was a market hunter during the depression. They would hunt the minnesota from Shakopee to Mankato. he had a 16 foot pumpkin seed and it carried two guns like that. It was three cups (as in grandma's measuring cup) of black with two cups of BB's which were wrapped in flannel and a who...

Re: Kimber Desert Warrior

cratex is on the lines of the scotscrub nylon pads, although they can be had in fairly course grades, the nature of the stuff is pretty mild. It is the one thing I would let a novice use in a dremel, because it is a solid but rubbery, the pressure is even and can not be concentrated in any one place...

Re: Kimber Desert Warrior

The best polisher is a Cratex tool, its a tip or bit that goes in your dremel and can be compared to one of those old white erasers that were supposed to be for ink. imagine a gritty eraser. They have different grits and materials to go from something that will remove material, to something that wil...

Re: Where do used Stevens 200s go?

well they are only about five years old at the most, not a big seller, and pretty cheap to start out with, so the used market really has not demand for them

Re: .308's seem scarce ...

rifles are around, but there was a big push to the latest and greatest a few years ago, which hopefully has died out, but .308's are the 2nd or 3rd most ordered chambering at Remington. Surplus ammo is non existant, too many wars going on right now,m and all the SA, Aus, Indian and other countries a...

Re: What 1911 do you recommend to buy?

I would advise you to be careful in your search for a sig revolution. Although the word SIG usually means dead reliable, I have been hearing and seeing other results with the revolution. Google it and see what you come up with, I know I talked to the gun writer Charlie Petty and he was of the "...
