Re: Private Transfer Form

Keeping a piece of paperwork around for 10 years??? And being able to find it when someone asks for it? Question: How LONG do they give you to find it? If I took this route I'd have it in a bank's safety deposit box so it would be banker's hours to produce it. I think buying or selling with a priva...

Re: Private Transfer Form

How is a firearm traced when a private transfer through an FFL is done unless the transferor keeps a record of the transfer through the FFL to show the FFL was used? I can contemplate many scenarios where a firearm trace hits a dead end. Actually most. You're completing a 4473 and that's traceable.

Re: New MN Machine Gun Rules?

Let me correct something I wrote earlier. The binary trigger prohibition has been in place for quite some time. Here's the change to the specific machine gun definition/prohibition. (2) a device that allows a semiautomatic firearm to shoot more than one shot with a single pull of the trigger or by h...

Re: New MN Machine Gun Rules?

Any plans to challenge the binary trigger provision? Does it apply to paintball guns? No, it applies to firearms. We don't plan to challenge this as we have other litigation we're working on to challenge some other things that would be easier to win. But if you have a spare $125k laying about, we'd...

Re: New MN Machine Gun Rules?

What changed with machine gun ownership in MN with the new laws? Or is this another case of bad reporting? The new gun laws also include tightened restrictions on who can own a machine gun https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/new-minnesota-gun-control-laws-go-into-effect-tuesday/ar-AA1eBEUi?ocid=msedg...

Re: Private Transfer Form

I’m not from MN, is this a new law that you have to do when doing a private sale in MN now, or just a suggestion? Old law was if you sold a handgun or assault weapon privately, without checking carry or purchase permit, and the buyer used it in the commission of a crime within a year, you could be ...

Re: Pistol Brace Rule DECLARED UNCONSTITUTIONAL…

That's not what the court said. They said it was "likely unconstitutional" and sent the case back to the district court to reconsider an injunction - which they didn't issue. A victory? Probably. But that headline doesn't match what the court said. Details here from the Firearms Policy Coa...

Re: DNR lead ban on some lands this fall

The DNR is banning the use of lead ammo, beginning this fall, in 56 Scientific and Natural Areas (SNAs) open to hunters. Re: Gun Owners Caucus explainers

So respondent has the option of forcing the law enforcement agency to accept a permanent transfer and pay fair market value should they not want their firearms back? Could I use this to rid myself of some safe queens? If an "extreme risk protection order" is served against you - yes. But ...

Uffdaphil wrote:Thanks Bryan. The imminent threat clause looks like it would cover anyone for the duration of a riot.

I'm not sure I'd read it that way. An imminent threat of death or great bodily harm has very specific meaning - and I don't think the general threat of a riot qualifies for that.

What do we do if it's not out before Aug 1?

They'll get a legal demand from us on August 1 and we'll go to court if they don't issue it immediately.

It's government - they'll publish it at 4:59PM on August 1st.
