Re: First kill of 2013 Fall season- post em up!

We don't do much running around. We found a halfway decent spot. We bring in folding chairs, decoys and cigars. On a good day you get to shoot every 20 min or so. It drives the dogs nuts more than anything else.

Mourning doves. A great way to shoot the dust out of the barrels before pheasant and grouse season.

Re: no more gunstop until john is back

Years and years ago, the guy here referred to as 'Big John' reached out to me (I was an obvious noob back then) and taught me all that I know about reloading. He came to my place and helped me set up my gear, he drove me all over the cities to different ranges and showed me how to pull a trigger. It...

Re: What's available for Disabled Shooters?

Another consideration is shotgun sports like skeet and trap. I'm not a slouch when it comes to those but I'm getting my lower backside handed to me on a regular basis from guys in wheelchairs. It's nothing short of amazing how they shoot doubles on the 27 yard line.

Little Crow Shooting Sports

Is anybody here familiar with Little Crow Shooting Sports in Hutchinson, MN? My wife commandeered my Franchi Alcione so I'm in the market for a nice O/U for pheasants. Nothing too fancy, think Beretta Silver Pigeon or Ceasar Guerini Woodlander and the likes. Not too many of the Twin Cities gun store...

Re: The mystery Aug Lebeau shotgun.

Try Ammo Craft in Hopkins too. Ron knows his shotguns very well but the Frontiersman is definitely not a bad place. The last time I was in there I was listening to one of their people giving a lecture about the pros and cons of gas operated shotguns through out the ages and I was mightily impressed....

Re: Basic O/U for Trap

If you're not planning to hunt with it, look into a secondhand Winchester 101. They're generally a bit cheaper than Brownings. S&W came out (and promptly discontinued) a fine line of Turkish made o/u's a couple of years ago and I'm still kicking myself for not buying one at that time. All the pr...

Re: A Bolt Medallion, Yes or No?

A-bolts are definitely nice rifles and I agree their triggers can be on the heavy and creepy side. But then again, you don't need a MOA rifle to hunt deer. I couldn't rationalize the trade you were proposing if it was me. On the other hand, never let rational arguments get in the way of getting the ...

Which load would you pick...

Here's an interesting dilemma I ran into when I worked up a load for my 260 Remington (26" Heavy Mc Gowen barrel). The idea was to get something to shoot accurate with light bullets to take out to the prairie dog field and reach out and touch a bit farther than is comfortable with the .223. Tes...

Re: Shot my best score at skeet today. 23/25

Congrats. That's awesome shooting. As far as trap concerns (my poison, I'll admit), it's fairly easy for a dedicated shooter to acquire the skills to hit each possible shot. The challenge is consistency, never to anticipate a shot, emptying your mind and let the great spirit make the shot for you. I...
