Re: AR15 Gunsmith recommendations

I can highly recommend Dave Timm. Great guy and can easily take care of what you want done.

Re: Building first AR

What is your budget? SLR or BCM keymod handguard Stretch 16 melonited barrel AR Gold Trigger will make for a good start. If you are gosing to stay will a standard mass carrier you don't need a adjustable gas block unless you think you might run suppressed at some point. A good brake can make a diffe...

Re: Dual purpose suppressor?

If you are looking for one to try to do it all, check out the Liberty Mystic X. Fits many calibers. I do recommend getting one for .22 and then a .30 etc to fit the most. As already pointed out, .22 is very dirty and requires cleaning that the others do not.

Re: Would a Hillary presidency be tolerable?

I hope Sanders wins the nomination. Its a long shot, but not impossible. While he is not pro -gun, he is not anti-gun either. And gun control is by no means his top priority. I think he realizes that crime and gun violence is a product of poverty and oppression, and that is what he is fighting to e...

Re: F-Class & Elk River Sportsmans Club

The reasoning is fairly simple. Suppressors do quite a bit to mitigate recoil along with suppressing noise. Someone shooting with a suppressor will have an advantage (however slight) over someone shooting the exact same setup without one. Since they are not legal in all 50 states, the policy keeps ...

Re: F-Class & Elk River Sportsmans Club

The inability to use a brake or suppressor is what keeps me away. The brake can be a slight nuisance, but a suppressor, that I don't get at all.

Re: Customer shot dead trying to stop gunman

absolutely zero point in doing what he did. Unless you are a cop you shouldn't trying to make any arrest. Dumb, just dumb.

Re: Factory SBR Source

You could also buy a sig brace setup that cabelas and others are selling already. Sig and other name brand ready to shoot, provided you want to spend the bucks. Save you 200 bucks in extortion fees. BUT, by law, you cannot shoulder it cough don't get caught cough. I purchased a complete 308 upper f...

Re: AR-15 barrel torque best practices

Shoot for the upper end. I shim the barrel for the tightest possible fit. Freeze the barrel and heat the receiver to get it to fit. Use the grease and then torque to 70-75. This should result in the least amount of thermal shift / wander as the barrel heats up.

Re: How many are actually buying suppressors?

NFATracker lists the probability of me getting my tax stamps this month is 33% and by the end of May it's 87%. I have delivery confirmation and cashed checks. Does anyone think I need to call them, or should I wait another month and see what happens? Nothing to call about. It doesn't speed up the p...

Re: How many are actually buying suppressors?

Sending something like your FFL renewal without some form of signature / delivery confirmation is not smart.

Re: Varmint/predator rifle hand guard

There are quality handguard manufacturers out there. I would spend a little more and buy from one of them.
SLR
Noveske
Bravo Company
Seekings
Troy / VTAC

Jackpine Savage wrote:A friend lost his long held FFL because the ATF claimed they didn't receive his renewal fee. I'd say anything you send to ATF should be at least certified mail and better yet get a return receipt. They probably have some employees that just randomly pitch stuff.

Re: House fire. Need advice on what to do with firearms.

You have a duty to mitigate your damages. You can begin steps to protect your property based on that, but your first call should have been your carrier, the second to a restoration company. Don't wait for the adjuster to get there. If the scene has been released, you can get the stuff that can be sa...
