Re: Camping World / Gander Outdoors

I believe the last day Gander Outdoors had guns of any sort was Sept 10. The following Friday was the last day for all other hunting/shooting accessories. This after several weeks of sale prices of up to 75% off. Initial sale prices weren't good enough for me but others thought differently as those ...

Re: How old is too old? (powders)

I have cans of similar age in my cabinet and they work fine. I finished up some 357 mag loads with Alcan 9 that was at least 50 years old. Assuming you have no reason to suspect the powder is mislabeled or different powders combined into one can (iif so use as fertilizer): All I did was the long rec...

Re: Shotgun accuracy tables

There ain't no such thing, anymore as there is one for rifles and pistols. As with any other device throwing out projectiles much depends on the one pointing the firearm. And that is another factor - shotguns are pointed rather than aimed unless one is talking of slugs. "Accuracy" with som...

Re: 5.7x28 Blaine fleet farm

FN only at Blaine. 380, 40, 9mm, and Federal Gold Medal small pistol primers came in at all stores today. At least at Blaine, Brooklyn Park, Oakdale, and Cambridge. Ammo of all types is beginning to show up on the shelves though 12 and 20 ga shotgun loads are only to the point of hen's teeth in scar...

Re: 10mm question on ammo and primers (old stuff)

The black coating is merely a lubricant tinted black and not Teflon, molybdenum, or other substance. After the negative publicity regarding Black Talons, Winchester removed the tint and sold them as SXT or some such nane in the Ranger line. They were initially meant to be sold to law enforcement only...

Re: Ammo price threshold

Looking at the website, it appears Federal is charging MSRP if buying ammo direct from them. Makes perfect sense as it would be odd for the manufacturer undercut its own recommendation. This is no different than what many other companies do in many industries. It would also be protecting their distr...

Re: Ammo price threshold

What is your current threshold for cost per round for you to order ammo in your caliber? Do you consult AmmoSeek or similar websites to get "best at the moment " or do you have an absolute not to exceed price? How much I'll pay per round depends on the cartridge, the availability, and how...

Re: Remington Ammo is back

Since June, Remington 9mm ammo showed up on our dock much more often than any other manufacturer and pretty close to all others combined. Remington was virtually nonexistent in all other categories but it wasn't any worse than other makes and maybe better than some like Federal. Federal, under that ...

Re: Police involved shooting in Brooklyn Center

Let the mayor pull someone over without a firearm. Or bring him on a ride along and have him go up to the car. 20 something years ago my father was a city councilman and he read that he (and the other elected members of the city) was responsible for LEO duties in the event the police were incapable...

Re: Democrats can't fund police, so they push for gun control

So if there are no police who is going to come for the guns? Only municipal and county law enforcement personnel plus some Federal agencies such as ICE and CBP are supposed to be defunded. Other Federal agencies such as ATF, FBI, and any others deemed "acceptable" will be tasked with the ...

Re: Boulder mass shooting suspect identified

Well, has a hole in his leg from a gun shot. Not sure from who. They walk him out instead on a stretcher. Barely limps. Leg is covered in dried blood along with blood on hands and arm which looks dry. Yet they walk him out. No one is carrying his so called body armor or the rifle he used. But he is...

Re: 9mm bullets available

Those prices make me feel much better about the 1000 Berrys I found today - $109/1000 for 124 gr round nose. But, it pays to be lucky and that I had in spades today. For the person(s) behind me, or for me in other circumstances, Bruno's prices aren't too bad.

Re: SIG Pro 2022

I have a few old models that I like. Those newer than 50 years aren't as interesting to me though I occasionally get an itch for an early Ruger 45 ACP or 9mm pistol. I have no idea why but it makes itself known every now and then. I don't get the same feeling for the S&W 59/69 series, probably b...

Re: Dark ‘ring’ inside shotgun barrel (?)

Looks like the forcing cone. The forcing cone is the part of the barrel where inside dimensions go from chamber diameter to bore diameter. The longer the forcing cone, the easier it is to see. Under roughly 1.5" the forcing cones can be difficult to see but over that length they get easier to s...

Re: A nice little trinket.

Pretty nice looking, I wonder if I will get one for 30 years. Like ex-LT I received a pen and paperweight for 5 and 10 years respectively, another, but better, pen for 15 years but don't recall what I received for 20 and 25 years - if I was even sent anything. I still have the second pen as it utili...
