Re: Well this is just great

I don't see anything about the shooter having a PTC. Am I missing something?

I'll reserve judgment until more details are released.

Re: Mel's sport shop in spicer

Haven't bought any firearms there, but have picked up ammo many times. They had .22lr when no one else did. Haven't been there in almost a year since my delivery route changed.

Re: I want to shoot TX hogs. What gear?

You guys with all the fancy gear. My first hog hunt was with a Colt Walker clone. Round ball dropped him like a rock from about 30yds. Any of the ar's mentioned Will do. Knowing the capabilities and limits of your chosen round is more important to my way of thinking. That 458 sounds real interesting...

Re: Coyotes this year

MN hunting regs do not allow "artificial light" which includes night scopes. Actually, if you check the exceptions (page 31 of the 2014 regs), you will see that your blanket statement isn't 100% true. Exceptions: A person hunting for coyote or fox from January 1 to March 15 may use an art...

Re: Coyotes this year

Most of my coyote hunting is done at night with either a shotgun, pistol, or PCC. MN hunting regs do not allow "artificial light" which includes night scopes. A couple of reasons I like setting up near dead boxes for the hog barns is that they are usually lit pretty well. The coyotes don't...

Re: Coyotes this year

Indeed they may be slightly smaller.... however, when mouth calling in MN and sounding like an injured animal at least you don't have these critters sneaking up behind you and hunting you for dinner...... AZ Cat.jpg Depends on where in MN. Was stalked by one north of Mora a few years ago. Eerie fee...

Re: Coyotes this year

I've picked off 4 since Thanksgiving. Three young ones right behind my house and one called in near a hog barn. Four of my favorite sets are by "dead boxes" near hog barns. Yuppiejr, where about in SW MN? I'm about half way between Fairmont and Worthington. We have plenty of yotes down here.

Re: 30-30 Auction Reloads

The only time I have ever seen a filler used is with black powder where the powder doesn't completely fill the case.
Never heard of using wax though.

Re: Seriously is .223 a good Predator Hunting caliber?

I hunt mainly in SWMN and regularly call coyotes in under 50yds. I've used handgun, shotgun, and rifle in multiple calibers. The .223 does a very good job with the right bullet. The platform can be whatever you are comfortable with. My two favorites are a Handi-rifle in .223 and a Rossi 92 carbine i...

Re: Handgun hunting

Nothing wrong with a 4" 357. I've been hunting for years with a 4 5/8" Ruger Blackhawk in 357. Has done quite well for me. I have two handloads tailored for it; one with a Hornady 125grn XTP-FP and the other with a 180grn XTP-FP. I prefer the 180grn, but have started using the 125grn due t...
