Re: Post 'em up! Let's see the Mosin Builds!

Looks like a tire iron welded to the bolt handle, if it is not it should have been. It would get more bubba points. Tire irons cost money... This iron was free from Home Depot, just remember kids, if you grab the one item in the bin that isn't labeled, and try to check out at 10mins to close, you m...

Re: Post 'em up! Let's see the Mosin Builds!

So, here she is, in all her finery! What may be the world's first left-handed Mosin... The rest of you, commence weeping! And, in case it wasn't obvious, this is what I did. Stripped and refinished the stock with Linseed oil, added a recoil pad that may actually be harder than the steel it replaced....

Re: Help pricing a used rifle

Looks like her grandmother wants either $650 for everything, or $600 without glass. Either way I'm happy.

Also, TPFKAM, my Savage is a 7mm WSM... But I will take you up on the brass thing once I finalize the deal! :D

Help pricing a used rifle

Today a friend of mine approached me about a rifle for sale, turns out her grandmother has a rifle that belonged to her husband. And since I am one of the only lefties she knows, she wants to sell me the rifle. Below is the info on the rifle, what I need is the approximate value of it, as I don't wa...

Re: Marlin 1894c loading issue

Try some .357 standard ammunition instead of the LeverEvolution. I argued with the Hornady guys several years back when they visited the Club. A guy buys a close brush shooting beautiful lever, then loads the expensive LeverEvolution ammo to make it shoot like a 7mm. Never could understand that rea...

Re: Marlin 1894c loading issue

I looked around a bit last night online, and it seems it's a fair bit my ineptitude with lever guns, and partially a surface that needs to be worn down. But it loads smoother now that I know how to load it correctly.

Marlin 1894c loading issue

Yesterday I picked up my new 1894c (.357mag), and got out to shoot it today. I was using Hornady LeverEvolution, and although the ammo fed from the tube into the chamber correctly, there was a pretty big issue with getting the rounds into the tube... The round would make it half-way into the gun, th...

Re: Mags for an SKS

Yep, that's what his look like. And if memory serves me right, I think he said his didn't come with the fixed mag. So thus the quest to find a mag that doesn't suck!

Mags for an SKS

A buddy of mine has an SKS (Norinco I think), that he can't seem to find a reliable magazine for it, other than the one Chinese mag that it came with. So far the mags he's tried all seem to seat a bit low, so the round being fed does all sorts of fun things that don't include chambering correctly......
