Re: How would universal background check be enforceable?

Yes, the part where they change the law to require registration. Of course, that's obviously their next step. I'm just curious about talking about the current proposed rules. But now that you mention it, I'll just say that it seems quite clear this 'universal background check' is a step towards ful...

How would universal background check be enforceable?

I'm struggling to understand how the proposal for forcing background checks on all firearm transfers would even be enforceable. Since there is no 'master list' of registered firearms tracking where they are, it seems to be that firearms could still be transferred without a FFL and there would be no ...

Re: Rick Nolan response (D - Northeastern Minnesota)

Therefore, as I work to commit more resources to help people with mental health issues, I also intend to push for more thorough background checks on gun sales, restrictions on high-capacity magazines and a limitation on assault weapons. I will insist this legislation protects responsible hunters an...

What's 'up north'? Several places in St. Cloud last weekend had bare shelves. That's not 'up north', but it is away from the metro.

Re: This law proposal looks good

Aye. However, isn't that a bit like my hometown of Northfield passing a law that I can't carry in city parks? States' rights (vs. the federal govt) are not the same as state law preemption of local municipalities code. Minnesota did not become a state by uniting a disparate group of individual muni...

Re: Help me find a range

Minnetonka Game and Fish Club (mgfc.org) is another great club. It is located north of Elk River - don't let the name fool you. They have a great array of ranges and are open year round. Nothing indoor though, and membership is required. I have no idea what the waiting list is like, or if...

That's not the same thing as a forum 'signature'. Not that it matters though, seeing it anywhere in your post feels condescending. Don't tell me I need to relax.

Re: U.S. may be heading in this direction?

America will survive Barack Obama but will America survive the people who elected him. THIS is the point though. The government IS a democracy. It is 100% a Government of the people, by the people, for the people. How is it Obama's fault that "the people" may be misguided ? To me at least...

Re: 2/7 Hearings

A convenience for you could potentially be a big issue for others... I am very happy that my Chief has nothing to do or say about it currently. I would hate to think what might happen if he did. Doesn't the bill merely change the 'who', not the 'how'? It would still be shall-issue. I'm not saying I...

Re: Five More Bills?

HF.0298 (removing preemption) is a very, very dangerous bill that would allow any municipality to change any firearm-related rule that they want to. It cannot pass.

That smaller .223 bullet really gets in and rips things up compared to those clunky bigger calibers. I'm surprised they aren't using it for elephants in Africa yet...

Re: 2/6 Hearing

The FBI guy, John Egelhof should be your hero. He was the outside investigator brought in to deal with the Metro Gang Strikeforce inquiry. He's a very competent investigator who HAS seen a lot of ****. Don't discount his "gravitas" with the committee. It's a shame he's against EBR's. tman...

Re: 2/6 Hearing

I'm sure glad the former FBI fellow was on the other side. Has anyone figured out the point of the lady who reenacts the Northfield cowboy stuff? All I got out her lengthy testimony was something about guns are safe if you shoot blanks, and the committee perked up when she said she robs banks. :mrg...
