Re: I give you: the Coon Man!

They are laden with foul tasting and smelling tallow, trim it, parboil it out, or rotissery cook for a LONG time, they are good. but its a day long process. Just adds to the price. I am thinking you bill it as a delicacy that you need to order 48 hours in advance and charge about $65 per plate for.

Read some of the descriptions. Funny stuff, here is what they say about the SAW The first small caliber weapon to be made legal for hunting the "Big Five," the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) from FNH USA ® is the ultimate safari hunting tool. Able to easily take down even the mighty Afr...

Re: Binoculars for range use - recommendations?

Either a spotting scope or spend extra cash on shot indicator targets like shoot-n-see.

Re: Personal Defense Shotgun Course

Target used to sell guns. Way I heard it, they had some go missing and the ATF offered not to prosecute if they surrendered their FFL. That's third hand but sounds about right. OT: was in Dick's Sporting goods the other day. Bought a shotgun for the gun club. They are retentive to the max about the...

Re: 6.5 mm's coming into their own?

Randy Hengl is building my .260 as we speak. I bought a Remington 700 VLS in .243 ANIB which he is going to rebarrel (26" McGowen), put in a new recoil lug and he's going to use pillar and glass bedding to mate the action to the stock. The action is going to be trued and blued of course but I ...

Re: Personal Defense Shotgun Course

Dean could not make this anyway as I am out of town, but courious. On the shotgun set up since you are using bird shot for most of it would they reccomend a choke? Or not? My defense shotgun is cyl but seems like with bird shot that might be beneficial?

Re: 6.5 mm's coming into their own?

LOL - I have been thinking about trying some heavier bullets. I have some Barnes TSX loaded but just haven't found the time to shoot them. This gun is way too heavy for mountain work, though. I would be intereseted to hear how they perform. I have read that they perform well with the heavier loads....

Re: 6.5 mm's coming into their own?

Ironbear, you are right on the Elephant hunter. Bell was said to have used a 6.5 for most of his Elephant kills followed by his 7X57 and I beleive he killed more elephants than anyone else ever.
