I prefer 20 round mags for many reasons - shoot from prone off bipod without mag hitting ground, shoot of bench without mag hitting bench, consume slightly less ammo maybe?
Sounds like a good time but you guys need to find some good private land. I couldn't imagine paying $100 per day per person. On my way back right now from a weekend of shooting, shot almost 1300 rounds and gave the rancher a bottle of moonshine and various liquor for the weekends worth of shooting. ...
I have a set of TPS TSR X-High 1" Scope Rings, 1.4" high, perfect for mounting a scope on an AR15. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/732679/tps-1-tsr-picatinny-style-aluminum-rings-matte-extra-high I'd like to get $60 out of them, they're $80 new. These look new, was on my AR for a couple y...
I don't know when they switched over, but they did switch over to a different bunting process to create the heads and primer pockets which makes harder bases and better primer retention. They were staked back in the day for a reason they still stake them for consistency. Still not sure if they'll ho...
Federal brass tends to be slightly softer than other brands and has a slightly thinner case head (see pict). Dimensionally it's good brass but it's only good for one or two loadings before the primer pockets loosen up to where they won't hold a primer. LC brass is a whole nother animal and is widel...
I still don't think you quite follow Jim. You indicate off the bore using the range rod(using your BesTest), it should work on ALL barrels because it has interchangeable pilots. You indicate the barrel both concentric AND straight, a 4-jaw will be pretty straight - to the outside but could be a coup...
Not fast enough ;) You'd be surprised how far off the bores are on a barrel, especially if you chop them. I've shortened some Remington 700 barrels that the bore is center on the ends, but in the center its over .020" off. The only way I'd ever indicate off the outside is if I previously turned...
What the hell is a range rod? Its a tool that has a reamer pilot on one end, ground slight taper, then cylindrical. You stick it down the bore, it goes in about 2-3", then sticks out 2-3". You indicate the bore and make it dead nuts true. Here is an example of a PTG .30 cal range rod http...
