Re: The name calling continues.

Even if that were true, its a free country, get over it. The danger as I see it is when corporate media as a whole is captured. Like now with Obama. It IS true and you are SADLY behind the times. Six right-wing corporations control the media in America. Obama gets good coverage only as long as he d...

Re: Simple Words From Robert Reich

What's the solution? What tax rate schedule would balance our budget?

Balance it when?

It will take some years, even with a wise and measure approach. Here's a plan that would work.

Re: Simple Words From Robert Reich

Any debate of Austerity vs Keynesian ecomomics is pointless because they both assume that it is the role of the government to create jobs. Austerity arguments are simply that the government can "create jobs" better by leaving capital in the marketplace, while Keynesian assumes that the go...

Re: Simple Words From Robert Reich

Deficit to GDP is actually 7.3% (see CBO). Debt to GDP, a more useful metric, is over 100%. This is a problem. The most immediate problem is that we're taking on "debt" that nobody is willing to buy. We're not borrowing money, we're inventing it out of thin air. The consequences of contin...

Re: Simple Words From Robert Reich

Nothing, I just want them to pull their weight like the rest of us. :flag: We're doing more than our fair share. Baloney. According to the distribution of wealth information, you're hardly contributing the weight of a couple of sparrows. We at least want to get you up to a couple of chickens. :flag:

Re: What IS the Actual Distribution of Wealth?

There is a difference between not having insurance and not getting care. By law, you present to an emergency room, and they have to evaluate you. That doesn't mean you get satisfactory treatment or any treatment at all.......and anything you're lucky enough to get may take five hours of waiting. An...

Re: Re: What IS the Actual Distribution of Wealth?

Here's an idea. Instead of making personal attacks and trying to start a "flame war," why not address the substance of the post? For example, if denying health care to the poor.... I'll bite. It isn't any more "evil" to not provide free health care to someone than it is evil not...

Re: Simple Words From Robert Reich

I said I think some degree of progressive taxation is OK (with me). I still maintain, the ultimate issue is not revenue. Its spending. Taxing the hell out of the rich to make everyone comfortable is not just, either. Both spending and taxing are a problem. But spending will continue to go up with o...

Re: Simple Words From Robert Reich

No, they're not pulling their weight.

They can pay FAR more and still live an obscenely luxurious lifestyle.

That's unacceptable when people like us are paying an amount that causes us financial pain and sacrifice and there are so many in poverty in our nation.

Re: Simple Words From Robert Reich

I believe in Just treatement in terms of taxes. Some level of progressive rates are OK (to me). In the end, we are taxed enough. Figure out spending. I agree that "WE" are taxed enough. That's why only the rich are being taxed more, which is right, because they've had obscenely huge tax b...

I agree about the gun control, although he's just bargaining and will be quite happy with the watered down bill that eventually emerges.

Re: The name calling continues.

Just like MSNBC and just about every other corporate media outlet are media whores for Obama. You can certainly THINK that if you wish and you're right about MSNBC (although they don't lie NEARLY as much as Fox News) but for the most part Fox and Rush are at a degree of whoredom never before seen i...

Re: The name calling continues.

Thanks, but I'm not wasting my time reading a report crafted by Republicans to make Republicans look good. I'm sure they have the ability to get the facts and then twist them to get the desired outcome. Who cares? :booyah: Wait a minute, you're arguing against a report that you refuse to even read?...
