IIRC, the Garand and the Pederson rifle were both chambered in .276 Pederson. In the end the 30-06 round won out because the Pederson was "underpowered" and 30 cal was a common round.

The trigger isn't too bad. It hasn't changed the size of my groups but the point of impact has moved slightly. It's just fine for plinking.
Takes a little getting used to but it is light years ahead of the polymer trigger in my CX4 Storm.
