Re: Powder decisions

I'm in much the same boat with a 244 Rem as I ran out of 100 gr Core-Lots. With components being what they are I am looking for the best I can do with what I have or can currently get rather than what is the best period. I started out looking for a bullet that will work for my purpose. Looking over ...

Re: 10mm Hunting

If I were serious about hunting with a 10mm pistol, I would find a Ruger Redhawk in 10mm. One could load it as hot as possible without undue wear and tear on the gun. Sight options vary from irons to red dot to reflex to scope. And, though the trigger isn't great, it is certainly not worse than most...

Re: Appraisal of Mauser C96 "Broomhandle"

In the Twin Cities I would try Al's Gun Shop in White Bear Lake or whatever town contains the intersection of Co Rd E and Hwy 61. He prefers Old West firearms but is pretty knowledgeable on other old guns. Outside the Cities, Puglisi's on Hwy 23 on the south side of Duluth would be my first choice. ...

Re: Taurus GX4

Thanks for the tip. It sure beats $50+ for the mag - if one can be found.

Re: Cleaning a rusty barrel

You could also run some DynaTek Bore Coat down the barrel. It seems to have helped some with a Krag I tried it on. At the least, it cleaned up better and easier.

Re: Taurus GX4

I picked one up last October and have been mostly satisfied with it. I have about 500 rounds through it so far. I picked it up as I wanted a little more capacity over the Kahr CW9 I carry when I can't carry a larger gun. My only complaints are grip length and sights. In the store my whole hand fit o...

Re: Proposed Dominick Black Plea Deal, Felony Charges Dropped

Black might not be totally out of the woods though. He might not be charged by any Wisconsin court but I believe the Feds could take the case for lying on the 4473. If the Feds can and do, Black may have a tough time defending himself due to the plea and his testimony. The critical fact may be that...

Re: Big Lake police chief resigns over illegal gun purchase

Will you sell me a handgun? I have a Minnesota Carry Permit. My Driver License address matches the Carry Permit address. I also have a Wisconsin Carry Permit. My Driver License address matches the Carry Permit address. What or Which is the correct process ? (I know) I can play that game: Will I sel...

Re: Proposed Dominick Black Plea Deal, Felony Charges Dropped

So it wasn't a straw purchase issue, it was about 'making a dangerous weapon available to a minor'? Glad the outcome went the right direction then. Other articles I've read stated things more as "Black bought the rifle for Rittenhouse", which would be a different situation. Obviously many...

Re: Kim Potter, ex-Minnesota officer, found guilty of manslaught

It's been a long time since my Minnesota statutes class but as I recall two charges stem from different actions. Man 2 is due to culpable negligence where it is believed the actions were without reasonable caution. I believe that not verifying she was utilizing her pistol rather than the Taser she i...

Re: Hefty black bear spotted near Voyageurs National Park

His ears are pretty big compared to his head. He’s fat, but not really big it looks like to me. That’s no 3-400 pound black bear. My thoughts too. Not only are then ears big but the bear itself does not say, "big." "Fat", yes but not big. I think it was Jack O'Connor that said s...

Re: How's The Deer hunting Going?

Shot two does during the early season, another doe in Zone 2 last week and filled my regular tag this morning on a spike. Wanted tto shoot a nice 8pt that avoided me last year and showed up again last Wednesday. But the neighbor killed him but didn't get to tag it on Friday. Neighbor believes in hea...

Re: No pics from the opener yet????

Not a sign of a deer all weekend, not even the "yard deer" that show up every day to feed on the lawn. I suspect a little has to do with the neighbor to the west was up with his four grandkids for the youth season. They filled their tags though they missed a few deer according to him. I'm ...

Re: How old is too old? (powders)

That 4831 is most likely WWII surplus H4831 which was commonly sold in bulk 15-50 pound containers into the 1970s. It was common to have one's smaller purchase scooped into a paper lunch bag to take home. That would explain the storage in Tupperware containers as those containers are from that era. ...
