Re: Fleet Farm CEO running for Nolan's seat?

Spartan wrote:I met Emmer today ..... he is running for Bachmans 6th dist seat. Nice guy ... for an Attorney.....

The problem with Emmer is that he can't win.

Against Mark Dayton.

In an election season where the Republicans took both the MN house and senate.

Re: This is the problem with america!

Should a person's skills and value to a business even be a factor in how much they are paid? A McDonalds cheeseburger? I don't care one bit how much it costs. If you can't afford it, don't buy it. That was actually somewhat of a rhetorical question. The question before that was the important one. S...

Re: This is the problem with america!

I'd like to go on record and say this is a terrible idea'yer. First, I don't want to be more productive. Second, I'm worried that SkyNet will be building my goods and making my food. Because, robots. Don't worry. You'll be in the first wave of people displaced by robots and put onto the welfare. ;-)

Re: This is the problem with america!

Not exactly rolling in the money. It is the equivalent to a $15/hour job. That would probably be a great place to raise the minimum wage to, so that the incentive to get off welfare becomes fairly strong. If the minimum wage increases, wouldn't that mean goods would become more expensive (or at lea...

Re: This is the problem with america!

According to the study, the author calculates Minnesota's welfare benefits paying out $31,603 per person. The study says that value is calculated from the following sources: - TANF (temporary assistance for needy families. Benefits range from $170/month (lol Mississippi) to $923 (Alaska). This value...

Re: This is the problem with america!

If you think getting by on welfare is easy street you are sadly mistaken. And if you want to call me a freeloader because I have medical problems and can't work go right ahead. I don't think there are many people that have a problem giving truly needy folks a helping hand. It's the generational wel...

Re: This is the problem with america!

Not having to work, and getting paid! Tough to beat that! I'm sure they are living the dream! What a fool I've been, working for money. To imagine I could have accomplished the same things in life if I just milked the system! Such an incentive! I must have sucker written all over my face. How embar...

Re: This is the problem with america!

They should raise the minimum wage then. I won't argue with you on that point. However, something needs to be done to cut welfare benefits, too. The disparity was even higher in nine states in which welfare pays more than the average first-year teacher’s salary and in the six most-generous states, ...

Re: MPLS Mayoral candidates

So it's looking like another minneapolis love-in with DFL trying to out DFL other DFLers. The only ray of hope I see is Cam Winton. Any fellow minneapolites have thoughts on the upcoming election? It's just like Texas. No biggie. Just vote and be happy you live in a stable democracy, or representat...

Re: squirrel hunting

Might as well get rabbits too! Squirrels for gravy, rabbits for something to put the gravy on. You can pretend you're Canadians, because they'll put gravy on ANYTHING!
