Hindsight its a thing. As person that keeps a firearm for self defense, I acknowledge certain risks. This is an example of one. if its the original blue/black anodized receiver a propane torch wont bother it, not sure on any of the camo versions.
Even if it messed the finish up Brownells Alumahyde or krylon rattle can paint will fix it for cheap.

your removal method is fine, just needs more heat= a propane torch is what I used in the past. Just make sure you don't have a plastic magazine follower or duck plug...if you do- push them up and out of the way with a screw driver or cleaning rod end etc while heating the threads. Sorry, I cant reme...

Not sure why you would want to pull the mag tube unless it’s damaged and needs replacement.


older style mossbergs, you have to un-screw the mag tube to access the spring etc

My guess, some dingle nuts fired 308 in a smaller caliber. Did you punch the old primer or did you find it that way?...if you found it that way, it probably blew out from high pressure
