Re: Lyman hand primer issue?

I bet it's easily fixed with a new plunger. I can crank one out on the lathe easy enough.

Re: Lyman hand primer issue?

Reading reviews on Midway's site, it looks like guys have had issues with the small primer plunger not being long enough for .223. The reviewer's solution was to gut the plunger out of his old Lee Auto-prime, which reportedly resulted in bottoming the primer at 80% of handle stroke (which seems too ...

Lyman hand primer issue?

Just got one of these to upgrade my first generation Lee hand primer since the Lee won't fit 338 Lapua heads. After assembling it with a Redding shell holder, it won't seat the primers even flush. They're a good 5-7 thou proud of the case. Is this a common flaw? Seems like tolerance stacking could b...

Re: Looking for a piece of 1/2" PEX Tubing

Jim, if you want to wait, I'll hook you up.

Doug, they sell 50' rolls for not that much. 30' is a very usable piece for anyone who might have it. You could always try dumpster diving.

Re: .458 SOCOM build opinions

I'm not sure if anyone's even making anything longer than 16" right now. I've seen an 18" in the .458 group on Fb, but I don't recall who's barrel it was.

My carbine is a 16" and my pistol is a 10.5". Fwiw

Re: .458 SOCOM build opinions

The .458S uses an AR15 upper, but you need to mill out the ejection port to clear the brass.

Some guys have even done it with a Dremel.

Re: .458 SOCOM build opinions

They're like a .45-70 "special" in context of .44 mag/special (without carrying the example down to actual variations in fps - it's figuratively accurate for illustration purposes). Or maybe .45-70 lite. :) Since MN became suppressor friendly around the same time I got interested in a big ...

Re: .458 SOCOM build opinions

Bullet selection, barrel selection, Starline brass is in high enough demand they run it regularly. Bottleneck cartridge is more accurate since it headspaces off the shoulder. There's at least a prayer of SAAMI certification as it's not copywrited. Bullet selection is the big one though. 50 Beowulf d...

Re: .458 SOCOM build opinions

Here I thought you slapped a Vortex image over the turret cap of a Schmitt & Bender and just didn't want to show off how baller you really roll. :P I just put a pair of Steiner p4xi's on my .458S' last week. Had a defective one sent via Amazon Warehouse deals, returned it, found out GovX had the...

Re: .458 SOCOM build opinions

Why'd you blur out the scope brand? Is it NighForse or some other knock off?
