Re: We'll find water on the moon even if we have to bomb it!

wouldn't it be easier to have the UN draft up a really nasty letter to the Moon. They could make the Moon cooperate or we'll keep kids from looking up and wonding about it or make the tides quit reacting to it (that would take its own letter I suppose). I'm just not sure that violence is always the ...

Re: Gander Mt. - What everyone should know.

I agree with MMCNX2. There are no guarantees when you buy stock. If you don't understand how it works, stay out. Part of the reason we have had the market "corrections" is because investors who don't know what they are doing, overvalue stocks. They don't understand the fundementals and the...

Re: Federal 12 ga steel shot shells

I saw the Title, but the price suggests that these are not brand new. K9barco - To satisfy the Pickers of Nit that seem to show up to comment on every thread whether there is reason for them to or not, I guess the questions should have been: a. Are these new retail issue that are collecting dust but...

Re: Mauser Model 1896 "BroomHandle"

spoke to seller last night. German inscriptions all over it and a big red 9 on the grip. Comes with a leather holster and the stock. $400. Winchester 9410 also available. $375. He has a Browning break down .22 that seems interesting, but not sure it has any particular value beyond the price quoted. ...

Re: Mauser Model 1896 "BroomHandle"

Thanks for the advice. The way I left it was he was going to look up the price of a few of the guns he hadn't researched. I'm assuming if he is going to blue book the as yet unpriced items, he'll probably also look up the price of those he thinks he already has a value on. I suspect that when Winche...

Re: Mauser Model 1896 "BroomHandle"

OK, I'm looking at a couple of other guns he has like a Winchester model 94 - (1894) which he mentioned had a serial number in the 2000's - its a .32 special caliber - if he is right, I think that is a collector also. He wants $275 for that with 10 boxes of shells. He also has a Winchester Model 941...

Mauser Model 1896 "BroomHandle"

I have an opportunity to pick up a Mauser Model 1896 in 9MM. I know nothing about them and have never handled one. The internet helped a little, but I have zero experience with vintage firearms. The seller is a friends Dad in Michigan. I'm told it is in great shape - considering the source, I believ...

Re: Police Run Roughshod Over Lawful Handgun Owner

This guy used poor judgement on a number of accounts. Why would he bring the gun to the police for safe keeping? They make all sorts of ways to lock guns up at home. If your home is not safe enough to house a locked weapon, then you have larger problems than the Police keeping your gun. The claim ab...

Re: '06 Trijicon sight getting pretty dim?

I don't totally dissagree with you, but I would expect a product with a 12 year warranty to retain its integrity much longer than what I experienced. I'm no expert, but that sight was dim and for being an '06, that surprised me. I guess I could have let it go dark and had a warranty replacement, but...

Re: Recommend a Lab/Retriever breeder?

Game Fair, I guess I did too, unfortunately. I thought it was usally around the middle of August. Too bad, that is one good time and a great way to research dogs - breeds, breeders, trainers and training techniques - all in one place and all focused on you face to face. I will likely pony up for a S...

Re: '06 Trijicon sight getting pretty dim?

So, I finally get around to packaging up my slide and sending the whole works into Trijicon a couple of weeks ago. Insured shipping costs me about $13. I get a call from the cust service rep and he informs me that the sight is about as bright as it should be in its life cycle. That is hard to believ...

Re: Recommend a Lab/Retriever breeder?

A good start is to visit the Game Fair in Anoka - coming up soon. Lot's of breeders and trainers show up there and many people bring their dogs and are eager to talk about where they got them from and where they were trained. The breeders are always happy to discuss traits etc. and will take the tim...

Re: 7.62x39

Thanks Chunk. I'm going to pick up 1000rds at Sportsman's Guide this weekend. I guess there may be cheaper places, but the prices seem reasonable and they are convenient for me.
