Re: Dems eye gun control in spending bill

We shouldn't, and I am. Buying a gun should be no different than buying a fishing pole. I don't see that ever happening in this country again. So I think those of us on the pro-gun side, need to provide a workable solution that demonstrates to enough of the Democrats (or whatever political party th...

Re: Dems eye gun control in spending bill

Would you rather the "thugs" just rob you of your new gun when you walk out of the store? What you need to understand is that a gun is an object it is not dangerous at all. You used to be able to mail order guns to your house, you also could take them to school. What changed? Guns turn bl...

Re: Dems eye gun control in spending bill

I think it does as well, at least a little bit. There are two problems though: 1 - those who are wrongly denied, and 2 - the reference to "1 million" One of the commonly heard rationales behind our adversarial system of justice is that it is better for 100 criminals go free than one innoc...

Re: Dems eye gun control in spending bill

#1 - the NICS was authorized in 1993 - they didn't start doing background checks until November, 1998. You're right! My bad. I went back and looked for the article I read here. #2 - an initial denial being issued (which is the number you are citing) is not proof that the person denied is actually d...

Re: Dems eye gun control in spending bill

It should only take cash to buy a gun it's just a tool. The crime is the real crime, what is used shouldn't matter. This intrigues me. So what would you suggest be in place? Because if I'm understanding you correctly, anybody an go into a store and buy a firearm, no permit to purchase ( like this!)...

Re: Rahm wants gun sales videotaped

I quit buying my guns from retail outlets. Buying from/through a FFL is a much better experience. No crowds, better prices, knowledgeable personnel, and no cameras (not that I'm worried about that). Forgive my ignorance, but am I correct in assuming you're talking about FFL's operating out of their...

Re: Rahm wants gun sales videotaped

I kind of assumed that I've been video recorded when I've made my gun purchases. I bought one at Joe's Sporting Goods (don't buy from them, way overpriced) and I'm sure they had cameras all over the place. Pretty sure Bill's in Robbinsdale and Circle Pines both had a camera or two that captured my ...

Re: Dems eye gun control in spending bill

We all agree with that however background checks aren't going to have any effect on somebody whom wants to do harm to others. Which is why I said " ...I understand intentions are not results and criminals do not submit to background checks ... But I still don't have a problem with all states r...

Re: Dems eye gun control in spending bill

Frankly, I don't have a problem with this. The measure is meant to provide grants to states in order to ensure timely reporting of prohibited persons to the NICS system. And while I understand intentions are not results and criminals do not submit to background checks, background checks done through...

Re: Gander Mountain in major Straw Purchase Lawsuit

This one is hard. I've been to Gander, Cabelas, and Joe's Sporting Goods. And at all of those places I have seen, usually a man and woman, checking out guns, and it's looked and sounded to me like those could be potential straw purchases in action. I don't know though. It's not like I'm trained to s...

Re: Chipotle doesn't want our business

I really like Chipotle. Their statement is very good "marketing speak." Each side can say they won, and each side can say they lost. I'm still going to eat there. There's a lot of Chipotle in the lunch room at work. Me, I've got nothing in particular against Chipotle, but I only eat food....

Re: Thank you GOCRA and MN Gun PAC

Whoops, my comment about buying a 1911 didn't really come out right. I did contribute already before. I feel like a heel. And for punishment, I'll send another donation.... how's that? :-) Hey, ...don't be so hard on yourself, it's not like you bought a glock. :bolt: But a donation is always an exc...

Re: Republican would-be Presidents court NRA

But to not vote is something that I just can not do. Well then vote - just don't vote for the lesser of two evils. And yes, this means you can actually vote for one of the major parties, if you actually like one of their candidates. Granted, that doesn't seem likely, but I suppose it could happen.....
