Re: Shooting for how long??

I got my first .22 rifle and 20 gauge shotgun in 1948. I had my Red Ryder BB gun a few years earlier.

That adds up to 64 years of shooting.

Re: Stand Your Ground?

Personally, I think the stand your ground law needs to have a duty to retreat in public areas. No it should not. I value my own and family's safety and if I believe it is safer to stay or stand my ground where I am at, then for the safety of doing so, I will. With the duty to retreat I am required ...

Nice gun. I got my love of 1911's in the Navy too. The 1911's we had on our ship were very loose and had a lot of "patina" (rust) but they always went bang when we shot them.

Re: A lesson in firearm safety...

It's always sad but a good safety reminder to hear about these incidents. The guy wasn't a newbie either. Sometimes when clearing a tough jam it's easy to end up pointing the gun in an unsafe direction. This report really got me thinking. Over the 60+ years I've been shooting I've had a couple of in...

Re: European mount, looking for beetles?

My son in-law has done several of those. He just boils the skulls outdoors in a big pot. Did a nice job taking all the stuff off the skull.

Re: Any recommendations for another online forum I should join?

I don't belong to this forum but I ran across it and saved the link for future reference. It's fairly new and is dedicated to gunsmithing. It might be what you're looking for. http://garagegunsmithing.com/

Re: Winchester model 94 info

I was too uncomfortable with the deal so called it off this morning. Thank You all for your opinions A wise choice. I like old mod 94's too but I think those from the late 1950's are new enough to be good shooters and old enough to still be the higher quality from people that still cared about what...

Re: 1911 8rd mags

Checkmate builds mags for a lot of gun makers. They make the magazaines for the new Ruger SR1911 as well as many others.
Good reviews on a lot of gun forums. My 8 round Ruger mags are very well made and have never given me a problem.

Re: Looking at geting a new 1911

You know you want one of these. The longer I have it, the better I like it. Feeds everything I've tried and it's more accurate in my hands than any of my other 1911's. Probably because it has such a nice trigger.

Re: Kershaw Knifes on woot.com 02/20/2012 $12.99

They are fairly good quality. These are lower end Kershaw knives, made in China to meet a price point.
