Re: Expensive Indoor Ranges

It seems like, in my short time as a member, that OGC puts the money they get from members and the public to good use. You get what you pay for. I get great access to nice clean ranges. I have shot with some really nice members. Most times I have been there so far If I have not been alone I have bee...

Re: Ruger 10/22...

I will tell you what. I am unimpressed with the 10/22 we have. It is my daughters. My Marlin 795 shoots die sized or smaller groups at 50 yards. The 10/22 not so much. I read on the rimfire forums about guys spending big bucks to make the 10/22 a shooter. I do not know if it is just because they can...

Re: Expensive Indoor Ranges

There are a few options in the metro area for outdoor ranges with varying distances, facilities, and amenities. If you want to go to an indoor range and stick with one distance then there are cheaper options that do not demand you volunteer. If you do not want to pony up time and money then you have...

Re: Expensive Indoor Ranges

Oakdale is $100 initiation fee, $90 per year and 18 hours service per year.

That buys you pretty much unlimited run of the place. You can bring three guests or family to shoot during non public hours or three family during public hours.

It is a heck of a deal.

Re: 300 savage dies

This is a cool thing you are doing. I have been thinking of doing something similar for a member of our hunting camp. He likes to shoot 220 grain pills out of his Remington 7600 .30-06. They are getting harder and harder to find. I shoot my deer rifles throughout the year. He never shoots until the ...

Cool. You gonna take him out shooting then to verify his zero? Might want to load up a couple of boxes. One to shoot and verify zero with and one to hunt with.

Re: 300 savage dies

Both Lee and RCBS list .300 Savage dies on their website for a bit more than $40.

Midway USA has them starting just a bit over $30.

Cabelas has some.

Re: Big gun auction this weekend

Looked like a lot of stuff. Not good stuff. Just a lot.

There might be a couple of "theater" or "radar" knives in there.

Re: Found the .22!

I just bought 2 Winchester 222 boxes for $10.97 each at Walmart. I have been able to stay ahead of my consumption just by checking every store I go into, that sells ammo, and buying it when I find it. When I am on the road and stop for gas I check. If I see a sporting goods store nearby I check. Go ...

Re: Working a Bolt Action Lefty Style

Might be easier to operate a Mosin that way due to the bolt handle and knob sticking out 90° to the rifle.

Most other bolt guns have the bolt handle angled down making it a fair reach to operate with the left hand. If there is a scope mounted then forget about that technique.

Re: First time RSO duty today at OGC

Hope to see you guys there sometime. I will be there this Wednesday evening. I have helped a few shooters there before I was a member. I bring a bit more gear when I am shooting. It seems strange to spend the money on a rifle, ammunition, and range fees so you can try out and sight in a new rifle an...

Re: First time RSO duty today at OGC

There are always exceptions. The guy was shooting a .300 WSM. Put that one away and pulled out another bolt gun. I was standing nearby and was curious when he was working the action and not pulling the trigger. He said the tags spelled it out as a .300 WSM. The sales guy sold it as a .300 WSM. The a...

Re: Anyone still looking for 22lr ammo?

You keep paying those prices and it will never come down to pre-scare prices. $10.95 and I will buy 550 packs, not until then. Guess I will need to open another 30CAL ammo can level full of 22LR I purchased back in the late 1990's. Kids are off onto their own lives now, so I may as well shoot it up...

First time RSO duty today at OGC

I was assigned the 100 yard range. Learned a couple of things today through observation of others on the range. When buying a used rifle look at the stamping on the barrel to confirm the cartridge the firearm is chambered in. Do not trust the seller even if they are a reputable LGS. A LGS might sell...

Re: Hoffys moved (kinda) to Oakdale.

I hope they make a go of it in that location. I am just 2 miles or so from there.

Might be kind of tough with the new Cabelas in the neighborhood.

Good Luck to them.
