Re: Pics of my first AR-15 Build!

I spent a few hours at a local dealer's place today, and came back with a big dent in my wallet, and one BA rifle. Added Troy folding BUIS, ladder rail covers, Hogue monogrip (love that thing), some more mags with ranger plates, Vltor FDE stock, and a harris bipod adapter. The Hogue grip really impr...

WTB - AR-15 Stuff

With my first build nearly complete, I can already see why people call this the BRD. I'm interested in any AR parts/accessories you may have. To finish my current build, I am specifically looking for the following: -BUIS; preferably Troy folding -Ladder rail covers (preferably in Flat Dark Earth) -C...

Re: Pics of my first AR-15 Build!

I hear ya! I'd like to pick up parts on the cheap here and there so that I can build up a few more purpose-built rifle. The current rifle is my (only) go-to rifle.

Pics of my first AR-15 Build!

I took a half-day on Friday and built up my AR-15. The entire gun went together very smoothly, and I am extremely pleased with the final product. I can see why these guns are so addicting! Still need to add some Troy BUIS, rail covers, and a bipod adapter, but here is the gun as she sits now: http:/...

Re: Need an Action Block and Armorer's Wrench

I picked up a nice action block, but was only able to locate a cheesy armorers wrench that gets terrible reviews. I just need a tool to install the castle nut for the buffer tube and I'll be good to go. I'd really like to return this NC Star wrench to Bills GS...

Re: I am kinda surprised - SGH

I own two SGH - one for my Kahr K9, and one for my XD9SC. Both are outstandingly well made. They are an outstanding value, especially considering the quality you get.

Need an Action Block and Armorer's Wrench

The places I've looked at are sold out of the tools I need to build up my AR-15. Anyone local have some tools I can borrow?

Re: AR-15 Build - What a huge world!

My comment wasn't serious, sorry to hear about your hearing loss.

I'm still learning about the AR-15 thing, and I needed something to thread onto the end of the barrel. I thought this one would work pretty well and look good.

Re: AR-15 Build - What a huge world!

I have my own "range" up north at my hunting land, so you needn't worry. Seems to me you are in the wrong sport if noise and muzzle blast are bothersome to you.

Re: AR-15 Build - What a huge world!

Here's a picture of the BCM recce barrel, JP compensator and YHM diamond handguard. My receivers and gas tube arrive Tuesday, will be building it on Friday After viewing the dimensions of the YHM Specter-length handguard, I am just going to keep the mid-length. The specter wouldn't cover the entire ...

Re: AR-15 Build - What a huge world!

I finally realized that I could literally spend hundreds of hours researching black rifles, and I still wouldn't know what I wanted. So, I gave it my best shot given what I want to do with the rifle, and started ordering parts. I wanted a jack-of-all-trades rifle. Something that I could scout around...

Re: AR-15 Build - What a huge world!

My decisions so far: -Spikes Tactical upper and lower receiver -Bravo Company 16" Stainless Recce barrel (with JP compensator, the little one not their massive one) -Yankee Hill Machine mid length or Spectre length free float handguard -Yankee hill machine low profile gas block. -Bravo Company ...

Re: AR-15 Build - What a huge world!

Looking more in depth at barrels. I found this barrel at Bravo Company: http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-16-Recce-SS410-Barrel-with-Mid-Length-Gas-p/bcm%20ss410%2016-8.htm Would I just need to add a flash hider and go? Or is that something that will need to be pinned and welded? As I understand it...

Re: AR-15 Build - What a huge world!

Well, it looks like Spikes Tactical and Bravo Company are a couple of very well-regarded companies for my upper and lower, with pretty good prices. What about the barrel? I'm thinking 16" bull-barrel with no flash hider, mid-length gas tube. What are some good options there?

Re: AR-15 Build - What a huge world!

Which is more of a consideration for you? Long and heavy for PD short and light for up north? Are you more concerned with looks or function or both? Carbine, Mid, Rifle the further the distance from buttstock to bipod. With a FF handguard theres nothing saying you cant run a carbine or mid gas tube...
