Re: .300 BLK H&R Handi-Rifle

Until we can have suppressors, I have absolutely no interest in a subsonic .308... I am also not a fan of "goofy" named cartridges.

Once we have suppressors, I could see buying this for a truck gun for various varmints and ferals...

Re: A New Gun A New Shooter - Advice Needed Please

The Benelli should have some adjustment built in to the stock system. If its one of the comfortech type stocks it will have all kinds of soft rubber inserts, and some can be removed. If this is the case, you should talk with the dealer and get them to change the inserts before you buy and see if you...

Re: .223 deer load

I know its a little late, but Black Hills makes 60 grain partition loads (I still have about 70 or so rounds of it)- If you feel the need to shoot Bambi with a factory .223 load, that is the one I would choose.

Re: IDPA or USPSA? - The Poll

Well Pat, as far as recreation... Mostly hunting. Bigger the better. All of the competition for me is to improve my shooting for this purpose. Then USPSA Then 3 gun (mainly because there are so few matches and they tend to be far away, and that conflicts with #1. Then IDPA Then SASS/Cowboy Then Bowl...

Re: Optics for AUG

Depends on how much you want to spend. I have one of the Microtech guns. Not completely identical, but close enough. With these, the lack of a comb on the stock means you are sticking your optics in the air a bit, so you should have all kinds of room to manipulate controls. I got mine with the built...

Re: Garage Logic

I also used to listen to Soucheray on long commute drives. I refuse to listen to him any more. Guys, this goofball has made anti gun statements periodically since way back when. He has repeatedly gotten his audience to call him back and yell at him, he sort of apologizes and then avoids gun issues f...

Re: Needing a new shotgun

If your heart is on a O/U, the best bet in my book would be to go to Ahlman's in Morristown, or one of the Cabelas stores and try out a bunch of used guns. O/U's are pricey as they tend to be the most desirable of the competition shotguns. Due to having 2 different chokes available in doubles events...

Re: Ballester Molina sights

To be honest, I was amazed at how well you did with that gun.

If you are not wedded to the 1911 platform (I know, heresy...) the XD series has a similar grip angle, and 9 mm is cheaper to shoot than .45.

The RIA guns are good for the money.

Hope to see you out on the range soon.

Re: Anyone own a Les Baer 1911?

I know that Cobb shoots one quite a bit for IDPA.

Send him a PM and I'm sure he will give you all the info.

$1200 sounds like a good deal.

Re: Carbon Fiber

My small experience is that they really shift POI as they heat up. This was on one of those Magnum Research 10-22's.

They are really light.

Re: Saiga-12 Magazine

It depends where you have to take off....

Many need a little attention to the mag lockup tab (if that is the proper terminology) that can be done with a file.

If you are filing on the feeding lip area, that is not good, unless you know what you are doing.

Re: New Field Pistol?

One thing to try if you really want a 10 mm double stack gun is find a used para ordinance P16-40 and have a gunsmith lengthen the chamber in the barrel to 10 mm. Plenty of OTC parts to play home gunsmith with too. You have seen, and I think shot my 10mm SV, and essentially that is all that the fact...

Re: Pistol for Yellowstone, Tetons, and Casper.....

My opinion is the .357. Heaviest bullets you can get, and load them as hot as you feel comfortable with. Penetration is all that matters with a big bear assuming it decides to attack you. You need to get a CNS hit to stop him if he is attacking. I've seen big brownies move with me using a rifle (too...

Re: 9mm major or .38 Super???

9 Major is cheaper (not cheap, but cheaper) than 38 Super as far as reloaded ammo, and you can fire and forget your cases (especially at Oakdale for Sam to pick up...) using one of the rimless 38 super variants is probably the most reliable way to go as far as an IPSC open gun. Some builders will no...

Re: Problems with Para Ordnance

Some Para's, especially the older ones, had a reputation for not being in spec. The small guns (commander/officer's size frame) are also much more finicky than the full size. The extraction issues sound like the extractor isn't tuned, but if a good 1911 gunsmith looked at it, that should not be it. ...
