Re: Shooting on Private Property?

My Stepson bought 5 acres in Sherrbourne Co. and we built a range on it, neighbor complained about noise, deputy came out looked the range over and said this is a lot better than some, you'r good to go.

Re: Gun Ammunition, Sans Gunpowder.

I 'think' the case is empty and the bullet is propelled soley by a normal load of rim primer. I have some and it is indeed quiet. It cycles a semi-auto though. If these cycle your semi-auto you could have a weak recoil spring and regular ammo will batter your action. CCI cb.22 will not operate any ...

What is your point? Because I'm white, a male, and I read the bible I have less rights than anyone else. Or am I misunderstanding your comment?

Re: Any one ever ever build a dueling tree?

The design calls for a 20 degree forward lean of the center support angle iron. Gravity does the work after you get it over center. Yea but I'll still put money on the fact that if you hit it on the inside of the disk it gets stuck in the middle or if you hit it on the outside it bounces back compl...

Re: Any one ever ever build a dueling tree?

I had a 40" 3/16" thick turntable base set up at 200 yd which I used to clang with .22 rimfire and cast lead pistol bullets, one day a friend used my range and bored 5 nice neat little holes thru it with a .223. I also had a 16" x 1/4" thick mild steel plate at 100 yd, while my ....

Re: no need for ed on that one

can you even cut good steel with an angle grinder? I would think the kinds hard enough to shoot with more than a .22 would eat discs for breakfast. I'm no expert but I think it would be a crappy way to spend a day and would take more than one disk , how much do those cost? you're going to cut the a...

Re: Revolver Point Of Aim/Impact

My Wifes 85 has a sweet soft smooth d a trigger and she has a tendency to shoot it low and left, neither of my 605's can match it even with wolf springs. :(

Re: Short Barrel .38 Special Loads

Forget about Bullseye except for lite target loads, 2.5 to 3 gr. loads max. A double charge at 6 gr. will likely disassemble your mod. 85, I have no experience with Red Dot, check the manuals.

Re: Short Barrel .38 Special Loads

I have P O Ackly's handbook from about 45 years ago that lists a load with Unique that gives an ave. of 1055 fps with 148gr flat point wadcutters out of my 2" 85, if I remember correctly the good Colonel Cooper mentioned a similar load using Red Dot, these loads are on the edge.

Re: Thoughts on cutting barrel down

If recoil is your problem you need to shoot it enough till it no longer bothers you, get a Past recoil shield to put on your shoulder when you practice and soon you won't even notice recoil.
Short barrels and muzzle brakes are extremely load and unpleasant.
