Re: Burnsville Pistol Range Practical Pistol Winter League

The foam strips (actually foam pipe insulation I've split) serve a purpose: fault lines, shooting boxes, or whatever else I can think of. I've steered away from PVC (1/2" prefered) or wood (1x1s) since they're both hard and will sit on a concrete floor. Too big and they'd be a trip hazard. Too...

Re: Burnsville Pistol Range Practical Pistol Winter League

Great Night! Everyone I talked to had fun. I think the new format is working great! My only comment is that it might be worth moving scoresheets to the other stage (putting them on the bottom) as soon as that shooter (or group of 5-10, whatever) is done. Even getting through 3-4 shooters saves 10 mi...

Burnsville Pistol Range Practical Pistol Winter League

Another benefit of the system i proposed is there will be plenty of people around for pasting and tear down, at least similar to before, and yet people will still end early if they show up early. One of the biggest problems with the original format was your shooting time was random. You could end up...

Burnsville Pistol Range Practical Pistol Winter League

Snowgun I like the idea but what about a squad sign-up sheet. That way you and your buddies can shoot together. Another problem would be getting RO that don't have a lot of experience on one squad. The squad sign-up sheet would still go in the order you sign up? Putting your sheets in a stage's pil...

I suggest a hybrid approach: Similar to tuesday night steel in rio salado, you could have people sign up in order, and then immediatly have them put their scorecards in two piles as they sign up. (Put the piles right by rodger, labeled stage 1 and 2). These two piles are the stages and their shootin...

Re: Caracal recall

There was some 1911 drop testing done by some gunsmith and posted on the 10-8 forums (They are defunct now and I can't find it). I looked over the data, and while it was interesting, it had some serious methodology issues. The general trend was that a titanium .38 firing pin will significant change ...

Re: Caracal recall

Caracal USA has determined a potential condition of the trigger unit in a very limited number of Caracal F and C pistols that could possibly allow the pistol to fire when dropped onto a hard surface with a round in the chamber. And in other news, all series 70 type 1911's are recalled.
