Re: Betty McCollum and mass shooting ammunition

The army plant makes military ammo.

How much better would it have been if the shooter was using commercial hunting ammo… expanding bullets?

All they are after is making shooting more exclusive by raising prices.

Re: $99 Hi Point 9 mm Ahlman's Black Friday

While not something I’d have pride of ownership in, I did shoot one once. It fired, and hit an IPSC target reliably at 7 yards. I didn’t have any malfunctions in the magazine I shot. They are heavy, clunky, and not particularly accurate… but just folks with disposable income are not the only folks w...

Re: Geese, Geese, Geese

Effectively a metro gun is the same as a suppressor- additional space to change high pressure gas to lower pressure gas and reducing muzzle blast… it’s just absolutely impossible to conceal it.

Held one once. No way I was going to get on a bird with that from a layout blind!

Re: House, Senate Democrats Push Background Checks for Ammo

Because of course only someone planning a massacre would ever buy 500 rounds at a time.  I typically purchase 72,000 rounds of trap loads at time every year for the HS trap team Straw man purchase! Uh oh! Given how often you get delays with gun purchases, exponentially increase the che...

Anyone have a supresse shotgun?
minnesotatv

Yes, but it’s not nearly the panacea you seem to think.

They are not that quiet, and goose effective loads, especially for nontoxic shot, are quite supersonic.

If you can legally hunt them, the suppressed shotgun is a nonissue.

Re: Lewiston Maine mass shooting

Chicken/egg thing. If they think the guy is a threat to himself or others, he doesn’t meet criteria for discharge from the hospital. If he’s not a threat, how do you go to court and remove weapons? The down side is lack of hospital beds and staffing (and finances) and also it’s not against the law t...

Re: Duck season

Some new birds did finally come in with the wind… but the pressure drove them off the lake very quickly.

Not having a good retriever makes shooting in mud holes very painful.

Re: Gov & LT Gov hunt

I assume you think poorly of Trump. Misrepresentations and misinformation are either universally bad or they are not. I would have been happy with her statement until all the woke diversity crap had to be thrown in. Kind of detracts from the positive message re hunting, doesn’t it? I’m glad if more ...

Re: The Secret Lives of Deer

So was the cortisol there because the deer was already dying, or because it was being sampled? (Usually you need to capture an animal to test it)? Cortisol being up in a stressed animal is kind of a go figure thing. You also should realize that time of day the sample is obtained is meaningful. Human...

Re: Gov & LT Gov hunt

She means to say that the Indians (aka indigenous folks) don’t hunt or fish? That more of them need to take it up? I thought they have both some of the highest rates (community wise) and tend to be some of the most successful. I’m glad the governor and lt governor are for hunting and fishing. It’s g...

Re: TPT Almanac-Pediatric Gun Violence

So how many folks with teenage kids really think that they can absolutely lock guns in the house away from them? As I recall my teenage years, my siblings and I got in to everything. We knew where all the keys were, and could open everything and could easily have taken my dads back up old truck on j...

Re: A more informative video on a KaBoom...

Don’t flip the spring loaded lever on a Henry type lever gun mag that is partially loaded. It may cause the spring to hit the cartridge hard enough to detonate a round in the mag even with RN/FP bullets.

Re: First parents in America charged in school shooting to be tr

Kind of depends on the exact circumstances. If the parents placed reasonable limits on the kid, and exercised reasonable due diligence then I doubt the case will go far. It sounds like this was an attempt to throw it out based on they didn’t commit the crime. This is the trouble with modern reportin...

Re: Forever chemicals’ in deer, fish challenge hunters, tourism

Or the “forever chemicals” with use of various plastic pipes. I do think lead solder on copper pipes was an insignificant factor. Lead poisoning has drastically gone down in kids (the vulnerable population) over time with banning lead paint. All of these decisions are supposed to be made on factual ...

Re: Forever chemicals’ in deer, fish challenge hunters, tourism

What do you think the comments on forever chemicals are? Does the amounts found even approach LD1? (Lethal dose in 1% of the population)? Note that most toxicology is based on LD50 numbers. The “news” is that we have detected them in game. Did we detect them because: Improved technology in detection...
