Transferring a C&R Handgun in MN

I've looked this up a couple of places - if I have a legitimate C&R handgun (ie. WWI Colt 1917) -- if I give it as a gift to someone in MN, does that person need to get a permit to purchase for the transfer to be legal if they're not otherwise prohibited (not a felon, etc...)? I know what the &q...

Re: Why I love Minnesota.

I guess I'd like to possess pre-1986 Class III items that aren't a C&R as well...oh well...its still better than Mass. Try getting ANYTHING out there...

Re: Why I love Minnesota.

Almost the same reasons that I'll never live in California either (oddly enough, I've been offered opp's to live both places that I declined).

Re: best shop in the Twin Cities to buy a used rifle?

If its a excellent condition used gun, and they JUST got it in on trade -- they're "probably" going to be less likely to negotiate. That said - I've successfully negotiated on used firearms at most stores...including Cabelas, Gander and Joes...although those three are really less-likely......

Why I love Minnesota.

I was emailing with a friend of mine in Massachusetts yesterday. He was looking to purchase a WWII Remington Rand 1911 from a member of his church. It was a parts matching, nice condition, etc...(I'm no expert). Anyhow - the hoops he has to jump through in order to buy it are ridiculous, not to ment...

Re: best shop in the Twin Cities to buy a used rifle?

@ Metro Pawn - every price is a "starting point" for the negotiation process. Bring cash and expect to haggle down 10-15%. YMMV. It sounds like you're well-educated on what the price "should" be - be polite with your offers, but don't necessarily expect to educate them on the pri...

Frontiersman, St Louis Park -- always a perennial favorite of mine for used long guns! Don't be intimidated when you walk through the door!

Re: Can you shoot a BB gun in city limits in MN?

Most of the metro area cities will have ordinances prohibiting discharge of any firearms (including air guns). IANAL, but my impression of the enforcement for BB/air guns is that they are overlooked unless there was a compliant or you were blatant about it. If you have a semi-camouflaged backyard, a...

Re: Ohio permit holders stop a man beating his wife

I know what's "right" from a moral standpoint (I have a wife and kiddies of my own) - but I'm curious how it would play out here in MN...especially if the victim changes her story and now you're the aggressor. My carry instructor framed us with a similar scenario, and Rosenberg has a versi...
