Re: Holy Smoke! Literally!

Your mileage may vary, but the red and blue lube is the same, except for a different food coloring or dye. I know quite a few commercial casters use Magma Engineering lube and/or Rooster laboratory lube. Those companies state no difference between the colors, other than the dye.

Re: South Metro Public Safety added a day of public use.

You hit the nail on the head... "We have to let the public use this facility but we don't want to. Let's be the biggest bitches about it as possible" A guy that shoots there told me "They have to allow "some" public use, because of how the funding came in for building it.&qu...

Re: Crimping Groove, Cannelure?

Vertical grooves come from the tool used to make the cannelure in j-bullets, no magic reason for its appearance. In cast bullets, the crimping groove is designed right into the the mold so it does not need to be added later...some swaged lead bullets can be seen with the vertical lines added later.

Re: Bullseye Powder

10 year old powder? sheesh, doesn't even have hair on its.... I have a supply of 4831 left over from WW2 that works fine. The New Bullseye is cleaner burning, but the data is the same. Should work fine for 9 and 45, some people like Tite Group powder better for that application. I think it is cheape...

Re: ProEars vs Sordins NRR Ratings

A friend pointed out a important consideration when selecting electronic muffs. Find out what the NRR is for the muff itself, with no electronics turned on. His point, "You can have all the fancy electronic stuff you want, but if it sits inside a muff that is as thin as a Dixie cup, then you di...

What Bullets do you use?

I've been reading the "what do you reload post" and was wondering what bullets people like and why? Handgun or Rifle or both. I load lead in both whenever possible, usually use Red River or Northern Star Cast. Sometimes use Hornady J-bullets in rifles. Why?, good products, good price, easy...

Re: 45-70 Lead vs. Jacketed

The most important thing to remember when choosing to shoot a lead bullet is, Make sure its the correct size for your bore diameter.

Re: Federal Brass - difficulty seating some primers

The "off center ring" sounds like a crimped primer pocket, common on military brass. Does the head stamp say Fed and have a date?, if so it may be military and therefore have a crimped primer pocket.

Re: When did MN do away with the 5 round limit?

I can not remember Mn ever having a 5 round limit. Other states yes, MN no. I have a copy of the 1989-1990 Mn Game and Fish Laws and Related Statues book, from the MN DNR. (not the hunting reg. book you get from the bait shop, but the book authorized by the Attorney General with all the statues list...

Re: Lyman 450 HELP!!

I have seen the same thing in an RCBS bullet lubersizer, guy I bought it from said he couldn't get it to work. Gee I wonder why?. You will need to apply tension to the piston in order for it to unscrew, usually the o-rings do this but if they are missing or worn out, it won't work. Try wedging a pie...
