Re: Video from IDPA WI state match

Yeah, someone, your blunders were not obvious to me either. Looks like that WI match had some cool stages. Those swingers are tough, and those falling turners were fast! They're excellent training — I hate them. And macphisto, I can't believe anybody who has a self-defense handgun doesn't shoot IDPA...

Re: Charles Daly as a conversation piece

Is that the one you bought from me? If so I am pleased to know that it is being put to good use. :) Anyway, to semi-un-derail the thread: I just don't get California. So libertarian in some ways, home to beginnings of the practical pistol movement, then somehow veering toward totalitarian socialism....

Re: New Belt.

I just received a Beltman Double layer belt with Velcro backing. WOW. It's stiff but comfortable and the sewn in velcro goes from 1:30 - 10:30. NICE belt. Time will tell if I like it in the long run as much as I like it today but I suspect I will. Oh, man I think I want one of those. Did you get th...

Re: What is your choice for nightstand/bedside handgun?

Quite the assortment :D , of those that have the Revolvers, seems you prefer at least a 6 inch barrel? what about an 8 inch? Nah. In my mind, the barrel length tradeoffs go something like this: < 4": GOOD: compact, handy, quick-pointing, "grab-resistant". BAD: more flash & ban...

Re: What is your choice for nightstand/bedside handgun?

We're kinda thinking along the same lines, except, if it was strictly for home and not also for carry, I'd have gotten a 4- or 5-inch barrel — or more likely, a shotgun.

Re: Who likes mouseguns?

I have a .177 caliber CO2 pellet pistol. I think it counts, because I have actually shot a mouse with it. :)

Re: Rock Island 1911

I see Rock Island is actually made by Armscor in the Philippines -- same as Charles Daly 1911s. They should be getting the hang of it by now; I bet a new RI is better than my Daly.

Re: Rock Island 1911

I can't advise you knowledgeably about any of the specific 1911s you've mentioned, but when I bought my first 1911, I bought a cheap one on the theory that I could get it sooner and buy a load of ammo and start shooting it right away, and life is short so let's get it on. :) That was a Charles Daly ...

Re: Found Magazine

Maybe there's some Bermuda Triangle thing about Burnsville Pistol Range. I was there a couple years ago, packing up my range bag to leave while talking to somebody, and accidentally slipped my 1911 in its rug into a different compartment of my bag than it normally went in. Got done talking and zippe...
