Re: FLPSA Points Match June 9th

Ron, I know this is a bit of a long shot but do you have any idea when you would expect shooting to start and end? I have a grad party not far from the range and I am thinking I might be able to get both done.

Re: Barrett M107 offhand. 1000yd 1 shot hit.

What's the rectangular device on top the scope(1:52)? Looks like an LCD screen.... That would be the Barrett BORS "The Barrett Optical Ranging System (BORS) is an integrated ballistics computer that mounts directly on the riflescope and couples to the elevation knob. BORS instantly takes care ...

Re: Scrap Lead?

Wheel weight, plumbers lead, and certified refined lead. DO NOT use lead from acid batteries. Why not? It's a complete pain, but doable. Besides the environmental problems of opening and disposing of the battery remains. I believe the lead used in batteries is a very low alloy, meaning it is close ...

Re: May Bang Ping Results

Dang for showing up in a "fog" of sorts (not hung over) and just not having shot in months I am in disbelief of how I finished.

Thank you Benny and China for hosting another enjoyable steel match.

500 S&W Cast Lead Bullets

I have a box of 250 330 grain Dardas cast lead bullets sized 0.502", they sell for $44.00 on their webpage plus shipping. I am only selling because I need a gas checked bullet or a jacketed bullet for my 500 S&W rifle. I will let these go for $40 cash - a savings of about $10 http://far...

Re: Best Type of Match Shooting for Disabled Shooter

I hope to make it. That is my birthday and I couldn't ask for a better day to begin shooting steel :D I bet something could be worked out if you wanted to shoot the Man V Man in the second half, I can not say for sure as that would be up to Benny and China. But if nothing else, if you just wanted s...

I might have a half dozen too. I work near 55 and 169. So not terribly far from Rockford. I will check this weekend.

Re: Loading 9mm

I always tumble in a corn cob media I buy from John at gunstop, 2 hours and they are clean enough, 4 hours and they are shiny (I use a digital timer and walk away). As far as what is good to reload and what gets tossed. -If it will not slide into my shell plate because of the head being mangled - To...

Re: Loading 9mm

Ok backing up 1. You said"I have several thousands empty brass, started checking a bunch and lots of them will not drop in the die? Used my vernier and yep there most are bigger then my book says they should be." When you say "empty brass" do you mean its been fired, cleaned and h...

Re: FLSC Matches this weekend

PRS wrote:How about poor college students? $9.99?

Ron,
Let him in for $9.99 but add in a $12.99 late arrival fee.

PRS,
You would have to be "attending" college to get that discount if it existed. I do not believe strolling in 30 minutes late to a 50 minute lecture counts as "attending".

Re: I Might Have a Problem Here

It would only take about 2.3 degrees of bending to cause that much drift at 50 yards. Not sure where you got your numbers from but... 50 yards = 1800 inches... Doing a right triangle one side 1800" the other 5". You can calculate the angle out to be .159° Sin(.159) x 16" barrel = .04...

I just did the math and JFettig is right, the tip of the barrel would have to move 0.639".

Sorry, bad math

Re: I Might Have a Problem Here

Was out at the range dialing in my new scope on my AR15. Had the gun on a front rest and sandbag in the rear and got is zero'ed and then all of a sudden it was shooting about 5-6" high at 50 yards. I finally figured out that when I had the hand guard sitting on the rest it shot really well (le...
