I think I found my answer. It is so simple I feel silly. I am going to pick up a couple of those magnetic rests that are made to stick on your truck to support your firearm when there is a break in the hunting or shooting action. No need to clutter up the floor of the cabinet.

From my googling around on the web I figure I will be making something. I was surprised that I didn't turn up anything. I just thought I must be weak on the google-fu.

I think I will get some sort of foam and a block of wood to stick it on.

Just got two in the mail yesterday.

Does anyone know of a source for riser blocks to rest the butt of short firearms on so they will fit properly in a gun cabinet?
