Re: Red dot Fail

I'm honestly trying to think if I've ever seen a less than $50 red dot not fail? Usually, it's the batteries - but I've seen them simply rattle to pieces as well. Personally, I've got a Vortex strikefire (I think it's a 'II') - While I don't think it's the same class as an Aimpoint, it's a pretty go...

Re: Anyone own one? Boberg's

I've seen 'em around and read up on them a bit. Just about everything on the website. It's certainly a novel concept. From what I've read though, they are picky eaters. Boberg's response seems to be that they're a work in progress. If you find a kink, send it in and they'll fix it and upgrade it to ...

Re: Difference between the .308 win and the 7.62 x 51 ?

You have blotted your copy book, ye limey! There is a considerable difference in specs between the .223 and 5.56 military rounds, both as far as primers and pressures are concerned! I'm pretty sure the same is true for the .308 and 7.62 NATO ammo. The pressures are the primary concern... 7.62 Nato ...

Re: M1 carbine help

I'm not sure of the particular collector points, but in general, I believe the last time the CMP had 'em available outside of auction the carbines were going for $500-$600 for service grades - and they're all gone now. So I'd start in that area. But one must ask themselves: Should I drop the carbine...

Re: What should our standard military cartridge be?

I think we oughta stick with what we've got, at least until all the arms trade restrictions and de-mills are lifted...
When nato drops 5.56 and 7.62, I wanna be able to clean it up cheap! ;)

Re: Anyone familiar with Range Tool Company lowers?

Had a couple about a year ago... Fit and finish was good, probably better than the last DTI receiver I bought. Broached magwell was a nice touch. Unfortunately, funds dried up so I never actually shot them. But all function tests went well and I haven't received any negative feedback from the new ow...

Re: Is this even possible??

I passed the pictures off to a ballistics engineer and he said the markings on the bullet are consistent with a bullet fired into sand or soft soil. Also came to find that the gravel pit that the base material for the parking lot came from is commonly used by some people as a shooting range. I thin...

Re: Vltor CASV-14: M14/M1A Rail System

While it's certainly not a good sign, the bow - in and of itself - probably isn't the culprit for poor zero retention... Whatever caused the bow, if not mfg., or perhaps pressure exerted on the barrel/receiver because of the bow, might do it. Attachment at the op rod guide makes me wonder - it's not...

Re: POLL: how much training have you had?

Do multiples of the same class count? For example PTC, twice. And would unique instructors at each make a difference in that answer?

Re: How do other clubs deal with members shooting everything up?

I dunno, I've been bringing my own target holders for quite a while when I shoot at Beaverbrook and never really felt it was the club's responsibility to provide this consumable for my use even though I pay my $1 per trip to cover the cost to maintain the club's stock. If the target holder is a con...

Re: deer hunting with a semi auto

No cap limits in MN, at least not for anything you'd normally hunt with a rifle.
I'm not into foul, but I do recall a cap on certain waterfowl.

Some day, I'm gonna get a belt-fed 1919 and rig a mount in my deer stand.
"Why?" You may ask... Well, why not?
I wanna take out an entire heard.
