Re: Forever chemicals’ in deer, fish challenge hunters, tourism

As we get better at testing for things and having a “zero tolerance” policy, you are going to find more and more things like this. FYI, DDT is one of the safest and most efficacious anti parasitic drugs out there. We still use it in very limited situations and a human can literally drink the stuff a...

Re: Duck season

Teal season was reasonably good. Limited 2 days, got a couple the third. Duck opener was quite good. Mostly teal with a woodie and some mallards (local birds). This weekend was quite slow, but not skunked. My lab is getting old and had cancer, so he only gets easy days. Only real problem is all the ...

Re: gun cleaning thoroughness?

I’m not a fetishist with regards to cleaning. At least not anymore. I used to do the disassembly and clean every time I shot them. Now I tend to either do it annually or when I start to see signs that it’s needed. I will occasionally clean my competition 1911 type guns to the point of pulling the ha...

Re: Liberty safe

To the best of my knowledge, all a safe does is delay entrance to what’s in it. .gov has safe crackers, which can get in if they want, and your property (the safe) is damaged by doing so. That the government coerced the company to provide the combination doesn’t surprise me. Your defense against .go...

Re: Protect Minnesota is Hiring!!!!

If they follow their leaders, it will amount to an unqualified equity hire.

If they want to throw $65K at a person who will not advance their agenda, who am I to complain?

More likely it will be some connected stay at home mom type who is educated past her intelligence.

Re: looking for an idea what I have and value

Looks like 2006 to me as well.

Federal cartridge made .308.

Brass value.

The M240 FN MAG is current US gun.

Also used in the M60 machine gun and others.

The disintegrating links are current pattern for medium machine guns.

Not worth much cash wise, but neat.

Re: looking for an idea what I have and value

Disintegrating linked 5.56?

Ie SAW ammo linked with empty brass?

Not cash wise worth a lot… just neat.

Re: Como Pavilion Update

Heck, they put a nice range in Mankato- got the funding based on the public could use it when LE didn’t need it.

Big fancy facility.

No sooner than they built it than the public was not allowed… the chief didn’t want “civilians observing LE tactics and putting officers lives in danger”…

Re: Gun ownership underreported

Given how many firearms are known to be in the US, 30% is impossibly low.

Re: Should I convert my AR pistol into a SBR?

In my mind, the only real reason to have an AR pistol is hunting. An artifact of our goofy laws. The SBR is the more useful option. That being said, the games the ATF has been playing with changing what they stated was legal are wrong. I get why folks don’t want to tax stamp it, and it’s certainly n...

Re: Supreme Court Revives Biden's Regulation of Ghost Guns

A difference being most of us like to actually shoot as opposed to just reading or watching someone on youtube shoot something unobtainable.

Re: NY Times article on auto-seers/switches

75,000 episodes in 127 cities... The auto sear is already illegal. Just how many of the folks who already have full auto weapons illegally were arrested? I saw a bunch on the "expose" on channel 5 the other night... again, how many convictions EVEN WITH THE POLICE CATCHING THEM IN THE POSS...

Re: High Wall repair

Those are my main sources.

If it was mine, I’d be contacting the importer (Winchester) and asking them where to send it.

Jim has fixed some pretty high end rifles for me, and if he refuses to touch these repros that’s saying something about them.

Re: Ignorant question

I have one from a .416 rifle that was recovered from a tree. Lots more energy there.

Bullets can do strange things sometimes.
