Re: Buying my first pistol

Fair enough. I think I'd better get to shooting some of these guns now!

Re: Buying my first pistol

Wow, thanks for all the responses folks. I'm in Chaska, so if there's anyone in the area willing to go to a range that's good, I'd love to do that sometime - I've been to Bill's and IMO it's rather pricey... again, I'm rather interested in holding on to as much of my money as I can, so spending as l...

Re: Buying my first pistol

Fair enough. Is there a particular place that's generally used for this sort of thing?

Re: Buying my first pistol

Re: Buying my first pistol

I dunno. I'm still on the fence about the whole thing. The way I'm thinking right now is if I get a full size, I'd like it to be in .40 - if I get a subcompact (like the PF9) I'd be ok with it being in 9mm. Not sure if my logic makes any sense, but that's the thought process I'm going through at the...

Re: Buying my first pistol

I'd like to pay $600 or less for my first handgun. Emphasis on the less though, haha.
EDIT: Including a holster of some sort.

Re: Kel-tec PF9

I'll be sure to dance around whilst wearing the speedo. :)
I'm glad I asked this.
I might be revealed as a newbie, but I'd rather do that than go buy something that sucks and reveal myself as a newbie the expensive way.
So this begs the question: why pocket?

Re: Buying my first pistol

Not really a revolver fan... just a personal preference thing.
As for full size autos, what's a relatively inexpensive compact (or at least compact-ish) full size out there? Any suggestions are welcome.
EDIT: To make it clear; the other thing that appeals to me about the PF9 is the price.

Re: Buying my first pistol

Yeah, I appreciate the concerns about buying a full size pistol first, but I'm currently a student with rather limited monetary means, so I was thinking I'd rather get a gun for carry than one that's a "fun gun". I'm just concerned about trying to carry a full-size pistol, and while I real...

Buying my first pistol

Dun dun dun.

I've been looking at the Kel-Tec PF9, for its size and cailber - it lets me carry a full size round in a nice small package... meets the middle nicely for me. That said, I don't know much about it - anybody have any experience with it as a carry gun, or any more general thoughts?

Kel-tec PF9

I'm thinking about buying a Kel-Tec PF9 to be my primary carry gun... wondering about how I should carry it. I'm thinking of buying either IWB or shoulder at the moment. Or one of each.

Hello there!

I've been hearing about this board for a while from China, and now that I've finally had a day off, I figured I'd take the chance to sign up for an account. I consider myself a gun enthusiast; I currently own a Mosin Nagant M91/30 and a little semi-auto .22 rifle, with plans to get my carry permit a...
