Re: Does CA's Mass Shooting Show Gun Laws Are Not Strict Enough?

May not have had any real effect but the laws made the emotional folks feel better. They "did something".

Re: How AI-powered tech landed man in jail with scant evidence

That's one of the things about AI... It isn't something the lends itself to easy observation or inspection. AI 'learns' or 'trains' itself based on input assessment and guidance, but it's not like a hard-coded program.

Re: Potter verdict- 2 years

Ah, gotcha. I don't know enough to pass that judgement but it wouldn't surprise me. I'm just trying to point out that the incident itself wasn't some 'handing down of justice'.

Re: Potter verdict- 2 years

How can you argue against the fact that his choices led to the outcome? If he didn't choose to disregard police orders and try to flee this would not have been the outcome. If he had turned himself in when the felony warrant was issued this would not have been the outcome. If he had not committed a...

Re: Potter verdict- 2 years

He didn't deserve to die but his actions and choices brought him to that outcome. EXACTLY! That could be argued. How can you argue against the fact that his choices led to the outcome? If he didn't choose to disregard police orders and try to flee this would not have been the outcome. If he had tur...

Re: Potter verdict- 2 years

Reading comments on social media is enough to make you lose faith in our fellow citizens. I mean, for those who haven't already lost faith like I have. All the comments of "he didn't deserve to die" or "why was she able to convict and sentence him to death?" The stupidity is baff...

Re: Man banned from range after gun play

Isn't it weird how there are essentially no fence lines any longer? The only fences are usually in residential developments or around livestock yards/corrals. Seeing that hunting graphic and the discussion about them just made that thought hit me.

WTF is 'burn pit exposure' and how does that warrant a meeting of government officials?

Re: Big Lake police chief resigns over illegal gun purchase

Nobody has any comments regarding the 'straw purchase' questions I put forth earlier? I would have thought there would be a bunch of people jumping in to tell me how poorly I understand things and how it really is. Or at least one "who was your instructor?" comment.

Re: Bounty hunters raid police chief's home

Huh. The 'bounty hunter' was a convicted felon prohibited from owning a weapon. And the bounty hunter 'team' brought along an 11 year old for assistance (or viewing pleasure) with a toy gun belt. Some real clear thinking going on...

Re: Big Lake police chief resigns over illegal gun purchase

Getting back on topic... One notable item I found in a different article on the topic said: Scharf's complaint was referred to Plymouth police to investigate possible criminal violations, as well as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Both...
