Re: Building first AR

If I had to build one AR to cover all my uses (defense, competition, hunting), here's where I'd go. 18" mid-weight barrel, 1-8" twist. Straight .750 profile and rifle length gas system. For a muzzle device, I'd go Kineti-Tech with the removable blast shield. 15" hand guard, personally...

Re: Bass Pro Shop buying Cabela's

$5.5B.....Wow. Thirty some years ago they were just a little mail order outfit in the middle of nowhere Nebraska. I remember going to the first Cabelas store when I was a little kid. Dad was driving truck at the time and had me with as a passenger. I also remember him disconnecting the speedometer s...

Re: Advise on first handgun purchase

A lot of good info already posted, but I'll add this. Find a gun store you are comfortable at, some are friendlier than others and I'd avoid the big box stores. Where are you located? If in the Metro area, I'd suggest Arnzen Arms. Their staff is comprised of real shooters that would be happy to help...

Re: Plus P loads??

My only experience with +P ammo comes from when I first got my .380 LCP. This was during the gunpocelipse of 2012 and the only SD ammo I could find online was some Buffalo Bore +P++ super whammy loads at like $1.50 a round. Holy crap!!! the first time I fired the gun it felt like a stick of dynamite...

Re: Is Geco 7.62x39 brass any good?

Can't testify on it. When I come across it in .223, it gets tossed in "other" tote.

Re: So how good is a $629 AR-15???

Accuracy is far from the most important element in assessing the quality of an AR-15. In some sense I'm sure your right, but at the end of the day or TSHTF either your bullets were on target and you're still alive, or you missed and you're dead. Yes, you can have jam failures and a lot of other thi...

Re: Is it Time to Stock Up?

When the zombies come, can someone please make sure they are the slow "Walking Dead " type zombies. Because the super fast and strong "WW-Z" type zombies really eff's up my zombie apocalypse plans.

Re: Store with the best selection of AR-15's??

No matter how hard I twist my brain. I can't come up with any kind of bizzarro land EOTWAWKI scenario where I would use 10K rounds of 7mm Mag in my lifetime. 6BR kinda lands in the same boat now that there are no longer any F-Class matches in my area. 10K rounds of .25 ACP for my little derringer is...

Re: 10/22 optics help for precision target shooting

I've got a Sightron SII 4-16 on one and the other has a somewhat unidentified Bushnell 6-18 that I got at an auction dirt cheap. It was broke when I got it, sent it in and the repaired it for free. I think it's the precursor to the Trophy line. 6-18x40, adjustable objective, resettable target turret...
