Re: Accuracy and different brands or types of ammo

If you are taking rifle, it really can depend on the rifle itself. You have to put the range time in to find out what load will perform well in your firearm. I used to not beleive this, but after a couple of rifles that were very "finicky" I am a true beleiver in this. Handguns, in my opin...

Re: Getting Ripped Off by Vendor

I have purchased used at the store that seems to be the one being eluded to in this posting. I am confident that I got a good deal in this case. While often I find their used selection to be overpriced, I often find many vendors used selections to be overpriced. That said, my gun cabinets can attest...

Anyone know a good spot for Wabbits?

Just wondering if anyone knows of a good spot within an hour of the twin cities (preferably south of the metro) for hunting late season rabbits. Wanted to take my kids out one last time before the season ends. I have hit a few of the WMAs in the past with no luck but will probably try a couple again...

Re: Thoughts on new big game loads now available

My sediments exactly. I use a .25-06 for deer. I can place it just about anywhere I want. It can reach out to as far as I am comfortable shooting. And with modern bullets it performs well without much meat damage. By the way, is that .50 BMG story for real? What gunsmith would do that for a guy? Sho...

Re: Getting Ripped Off by Vendor

I agree with whats been said. Unfortunatly it is a buyer or seller beware economy and one has to do their homework to get the most value. With the plethera of info available on the web anyone can buy and sell competently.

Re: Thoughts on new big game loads now available

What is the difference between now and waaay back then? NOTHING Well now with Steroid use rampant among the Cape Buffalo population, don't you think we need something better than the old .375 H&H to counter act them. I mean they just aren't the same creature as back durning the Safari hay days!...

Thoughts on new big game loads now available

Just am courious on others thoughts about the several new big game loads that have hit the market in the last couple of years. Ones that are top of mind for me are .375 Ruger, .416 Ruger, and .370 Sako but I think the same topic could apply to ones like .338 Ruger compact magnum and .338 Federal to ...

Re: Using Gun Broker

Thank you to all three of you. It is as I thought but wanted to get some confirmation before I trust a seller. He has over 100 positive feedback in the last 6 months so he seems to do quite a bit of business and has been a member since 2001 so I guess it is a sure a bet as any.

Thank guys.

Using Gun Broker

Those who have used Gun Broker.com, what are your thoughts on risk to the buyer? I am assuming that if the buyer has been on and active for a couple of years or more and he has good feedback it is a fairly safe bet, but just have never used them. I have ordered on-line in the past but only through g...

Re: Choosing a rifle scope.

The problem is that you have too many variables in your question. My 2 cents is that if you are looking for glass for your Ought Six a standard 3-9 x 40 is going to give you all that you would need and more. This will work for hunting whitetails in the woods at closer ranges to any shots you might n...

Re: .17 HMR Rifles ...A Few Questions

Not a fan of it myself, but there was a recent article in the outdoors section of the Star Tribune on Snow Shoe Hare hunting in late winter that touted this as the best round for that endevor to answer your question about what to hunt with it.
