If you have indeed been to a couple matches at Oakdale and been able to run them safely, then you should have absolutely no problem at MG&F IDPA or TCAS IDPA at Beaverbrook (Match on July 20th, http://www.twincitiesidpa.com/) Just make sure you tell Kurt or Stu (or whoever is match director) whe...

Working on the plunger to make it less stiff is first for sure, but notching or beveling the slide stop where it interacts with the plunger is great as well, just don't jack it up so it doesn't function with the follower on your magazines....
Just buy this from midway: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/688064/shooting-chrony-f1-master-chronograph Solid chrony, folds up into a little box, and has a display that connects via telephone cable back to you (good 10 yards or so), so you can see the speed readings right at your bench. I love mine.
Also, on a separate note, I want some of those ammo trays; they are just cool! Time to do some google searching... Edit: if anyone else was curious, my google-fu was good enough to find the maker of the trays. Apparently they're CNC machined billet aluminum. Seems like they're probably pricier than...
Based on the link above and using lead data vs jacketed, it looks like 5.4-5.9 is the range. You were using the jacked data(5.2 start), plated bullets are soft and most manufacturers recommend using lead data. You still need to work up, but generally they will need a little more powder than a simil...
Its a valid idea, but dont make the scoring too much higher than A.
I would suggest E=7 at most. Also, B should follow major minor values along with C. This keeps the risk reward in line with difficulty of power factor, which is why scoring is different with the two to begin with.
Nobody uses sigs for competition (wonder why? ;) ), but 1911's typically have their own division due to popularity. Another consideration is all the wonderful aftermarket parts you can get to take the 1911 in any direction you want to go, and customize it to make it "your gun". Fit to you ...
My 1st stage win ever!!!! I was the first person to shoot the first stage and somehow - mostly because a few of the good regulars didn't show or we're shooting revolver - I laid down a good enough score to win production class for a stage. Nice work! Notice that although you didn't have the fastest...

Thats a no. This is a steel match up close. High velocity and high calibers will damage steel and can hurt people with back splatter.
