No RSVP necessary, you can just show up. If you do know ahead of time that you will be there just post in the thread, or PM me. It would be useful to have some idea what our headcount might be.

USPSA Orientation April 17th.

I just wanted to give a shout out here. PIne Island White Pines Sportsman's club will be having a FREE USPSA Orientation class on April 17th from 10am to 1pm. If you are even remotely interested in Pistol Action shooting this is a great place to start. We have re-vamped the course this year to be mo...

Re: Trigger jobs

I've done 4-5 different n-frame smiths, for myself and other folks in USPSA. It's gonna depend on what you want, but they aren't terribly tough to do. Getting a double action pull that light is totally do-able, but if you are set on the 6lbs range, you will likely have to restrict yourself to federa...

Re: Obama's executive order

Sit down, take a look, and start thinking about all of the murders that have been committed over the years with guns, without guns, with bombs, knives, you name it. What it all boils down to, is someone has mental issues. Someone was sick in their mind, and didn't get the help they needed. Why didn...

Re: Obama's executive order

So I'm not a lawyer, but here is my take away on the trust thing. 1. It doesn't appear to be retroactive, meaning you aren't going to have to get rid of what you have. 2. As much as this sucks, it also removes the requirement to be certified by your cleo. You know only need to send a copy to him. I ...

Re: Best rifle ranges in MN

Zack, I've seen quite a few ranges, the one that I like best happens to nearest to me. Pine Island White Pines Sportsmans Club. It's south of the cities about an hour. http://www.piwpsc.org/ They have 9 total bays, with a steel, for both pistol and rifle. Their club house is top notch. Pros, Relativ...

Re: How many rounds through a handgun per range session?

Here is a video of Jerry Miculek shooting .15 splits (with one .10) https://youtu.be/ChSazF41q-s?t=2m25s The incredible part of this video isn't the splits. Look at the grouping on steel, and realize that he's still seeing his sight at this speed. Also keep in mind he's using a red-dot, and...

Re: How many rounds through a handgun per range session?

Average splits, while maintaining front sight focus, and calling my shots are right around .2 I'm a B shooter in USPSA, and this is pretty typical of that skill range. My splits don't seem super affected by short transitions. If I'm just point shooting something in muzzle contact range obviously you...

Re: How many are actually buying suppressors?

It's kinda sad how many friends, told me "I can't wait to buy a suppressor", and now are opting out due to the paper work.

Re: Count your silencers before they're hatched

Liberty Mystic, with adapters for my UZI, 300 blk, .223, and 9mm pistols. (pretty much covers me for everything but 308 super sonic).

Silencerco sparrow with adapter for my p22.

Next will likely be 308 rifle can, but I figure with 300blk, I may not want to suppress my 308.

Re: Gunsmith recommendation

westhope wrote:My rear sight on my Shield was VERY difficult to remove. I would recommend a sight tool.

I managed removal just fine with a set of brass punches, on an entirely unrelated note... I now need a new set of brass punches.

A sight pusher would have been nice.

Re: Registering an NFA weapon [inc Suppressors] via trust

With regards too "section 4f - the overall length of the weapon. If the stock folds, this measurement is unfolded. If the stock collapses, this is the most collapsed position." I was told by a lawyer who specializes in NFA trusts, that the length, is always from folded or most collapsed po...

Re: Range disappointment after shooting reloads

Typically with a barrel overheating I will see "stringing" What that means is that the rounds start stringing out, this usually happens in a vertical direction, but not always. The fact you swapped to commercial loads and everything was still hosed indicates that it's the gun not the ammo....
