Re: New Shooter to the Range, 12th Birthday Part 2

Loos like a great day. Don't want to be a buzz-kill, but teach him to keep his finger off the trigger when not shooting ;)

Re: Taking a new (young) shooter to the range.... Any advice?

Like others have said, start with paper targets in close. Bring home a couple to hang on the bedroom bragging wall. Being able to show this success to mom and buddies is another key to happiness.

Re: Question about the permit to carry class!!!

So, is there a snowball's chance in hell that the good people of Minnesota will ever decide that folks can get concealed carry permits without spending a chunk of money and time? I'm soon to be a resident, and the requirments seem to be a pain in the butt. I'm a NRA certified BP and PPITH instructor...

Re: Who else is dying to shoot steel?

So, where and when are these mythical steel shoots? Are they Steel Challenge? or USPSA with lots of falling steel?

Re: Soon to be a noob in balmy Minnesota

We found a home in Chanhassen and close in about 5 weeks. Probably won't be able to afford to shoot given what houses cost in the area! YIKES! After I get over the sticker/mortgage shock, where are good places to shoot (clubs, ranges, etc) and great stores in the area? Thanks all!

Re: 1911 Back Strap?

For the OP- Changing the MSH will not change the trigger pull. The "flat or arched" question is about fit/grip. The thing is I can depress the hammer lock level much easier on his than I can on either of mine Not sure what you are asking here, but changing out the weight of the mainspring ...

Re: Good shops to find firearms and accessories

I'm moving to Minneapolis area (western 'burbs) in next couple months. This is really helpful so far. What shops have best selection and prices on used guns? Also, who has best (lowest) fees for inbound transfers. I've never bought a new gun on-line (prefer to negotiate with local seller), but I am ...

Re: Where is the best place to trade in handguns??

Gunbroker.com can be a good place to sell, just be sure to consider their fees and shipping when setting your floor price. There are agazillion other gun forums with very active and reliable for sale/classified sections. Try out AR15.com, thefiringline.com, thehighroad.org, or glocktalk.com for a st...

Re: My first Colt

NIce wheelie! I'm partial to K frame Smiths, but think I need to expand my horizons. As a target gun, the nicer Smith triggers are a significant benefit. As a fighting gun the Colt will work just fine ;)

Re: FTF Handgun sale/purchase

Once you have the ATF call you to ask if you still own a certain gun, which turned up somewhere it wasn't supposed to, you'll be glad that you're able to prove who you sold it to. Hasn't happened yet. I'll follow the law, but won't let imaginary problems drive my choices. I like the "John Brow...

Re: FTF Handgun sale/purchase

Not yet a Minnesota resident, but if it's legal, why all the drama? In PA, we have to use FFL for handgun transfer. Long guns are not regulated. If selling, I usually ask to the the DL and show mine to prove state residency. I ask, " Are you prohibited from owning or purchasing a firearm?"...

Re: Soon to be a noob in balmy Minnesota

Thanks folks. I work for Cargill, and I'm quite familiar with the weather. Been "visiting" for almost 15 years. Been in the northeast most of my life (currently PA), but had a couple great years in Lake Geneva, WI. It was a tad chilly. Pretty sure we have all our cold weather clothes. BIgg...
