Re: O/U Cases?

Breaking it down is one latch and a tug on the forearm before unlocking the breech. Takes maybe 15 seconds. That's just the engineer in me. Why add unnecessary work that adds literally no value? Also as pointed out this increases your odds of a fumble. As with anything the more operations the more ...

Re: O/U Cases?

I just use a regular shotgun soft case. I don't like breaking it down, then putting it back together at the range to shoot, then apart to bring home then back together to go in the safe. It's easier to just toss it in a regular shotgun case and call it a day. I got my last two shotgun cases at Fleet...

Re: MWCA show

Does anyone know if that guy with the nearly new 50 cal. ammo cans will be there, and how much they are? I haven't seen a deal on ammo cans in a while. There was a guy from Stillwater that sold them reasonable. I think the guy you are thinking about came after him and had higher prices. I have been...

Re: Old IMR 4227 load data

Hogdon should be able to help. I got some accurate 9s that is not available. A call to accurate got me starting loads. As I recall the simply said start 10% below 9.

Re: Best scopes to use on a AR-15

"Best" is really subjective. What distances? What is your max budget? Exactly! Best is what meets your needs and budget. But you can't go wrong with a vx3. I have a few redfield 2-7's on AR's they work great and would be comparable to a leupold rifleman scope. If you plan to hunt a vx3 wo...

Re: Anyone willing to allow UMN Students to shoot on their land?

Gopher campfire and rainbow Sportsman's allow you to throw your own trap. Membership is around $40 a year. Both are good ranges but I shoot at gopher more.

Re: Emergency use of wrong caliber

I think you would be better off grabbing a shovel or hammer. I would think even if you could get the gun to go off the velocity would not be enough to do any kind of damage. Maybe in a case where they were the same diameter like 380 in a 9mm but not a 9mm in a 40. .40 in a 10mm? Two straight wall c...

Re: Building first AR

Thanks for the feedback. Not off to a terrific start so far. Ordered a lower from Sportsman Guide. They cancelled it as they were oversold on them (even though they had them listed as available on their website). Pretty much the same everywhere else. SG told me to check again on 11/21. When they ex...

Re: Kimber K6

I have held them at shot show. Too heavy to be a pocket gun, too small for target work.

Re: Building first AR

It's all personal preference. I would however suggest avoiding key mod. I don't know why everyone uses it.

Re: Winter Rifle Range

...I don't intend to give them another $500. Well according to the Horse and Hunt website they are up to $649 for the gun club membership now. Ouch. I joined Beaverbrook and I'm happy. It's only about 30min from my house and even in rush hour it's not too bad. My only grip is the dirt roads leading...

Re: JC Arms &Ammunition

I have not used this guy but am not using any Reman ammo anymore. There are a lot of horror stories about reman ammo. I never had any damage to a gun but had terrible quality control issues. I have had lots with no crimps at all, too low of power to cycle factory Glocks, too inaccurate to be used(2...

Re: Election and gun buying habits

If Trump gets in there will likely be a surplus of guns and ammo. We should see more sales and better pricing overall. If Hillary gets in I think we will see gun sales go up but not at a panic level yet. However if you are even considering an AR15 type gun, I would not wait. Also stock up on ammo fo...
